THREE VARIOUS SWORDS AND A BOYONET, this lot includes a Balkan Yataghan sword, this is usually from the 19th Century and features an oversized Walrus handle, the blade has rusted and it is missing its scabbard, the 2nd sword features a wooden grip with a cross shaped hilt, the blade is etched but worn in places, the cross guard has rusted and the scabbard has broken near the end, the 3rd sword is a curved sabre, it features an etched blade that is rubbed in places, the cross guard has rusted but the sire bound grip is good, the bayonet is a Wilkinson 1907 pattern, the markings on the blade are just legible but the scabbard is broken
A British Pattern 1856 Two-Band Enfield Sword Bayonet, with 58cm yataghan fullered steel blade, possibly German, with chequered black leather grips scales, the pommel indistinctly engraved, probably "V/M X A1/ 228", (scabbard lacking); a British 1907 Bayonet by Sanderson, the 43cm blued steel blade with maker's name and issue date for September 1910, bend mark and various inspector's marks, with hooked quillon, wood grips and steel pommel stamped 1.CT. 431, with steel mounted leather scabbard and crushed leather frog stamped LONDON 1915 (2)1 - Blade appears to have been cleaned. Faint patches of rust remain. Finish to leather grip scales worn. Spring clip operative. 2 - Minor bruising to grip, pitting to scabbard mounts.
A French M1866 Chassepot Yataghan Sword Bayonet, with no visible markings to the blade or steel crossguard, ribbed brass grip and steel scabbard; a French M1872 Gras Bayonet, the back edge of the T section steel blade engraved Mre d'Armes de St. Etienne, Juin 1875, the steel crossguard and steel scabbard stamped with matching numbers 29408; a Dutch Klewang, the 46cm single edge double fullered steel blade bearing traces of original bluing and faintly marked at the ricasso with a crowned H, with curved sheet steel crossguard and blackened hard rubber grip scales with counter sunk brass rivets, later wood scabbard. (3)1 - Black patching to blade, rust pitting to crossguard and scabbard which has a dent to one side; 2 - Black patching to blade, rust pitting to crossguard and scabbard; 3 - Orange rust patches to blade which bears traces of original bluing, orange rust pitting to scabbard, bruising to grip scales, later wood scabbard.
