Complete front surround for a Wurlitzer 150 band organ. Surround was half way through restoration when the owner passed. Comes with 1 drum frame, xylophone rack, and wood pipes in rack. Tanzstab. Herkunft: Lobi. Burkina Faso. Material: Holz geschnitzt, Leder u.a. Beschreibung: Figürlich verzierter Tanzstab "khuluor" mit sitzender Figur im Lederumhang. Maße: H. ohne Sockel 58, mit Sockel 60cm. Zustand B/C. Mit kleinen Figuren von Schutzgeistern beschnitzte Stäbe wie dieses Exemplar wurden von jungen Männern in der stolz erhobenen rechten Hand gehalten, wenn sie auf Märkten und Festen im Kreise zur Musik der Xylophone und Trommeln tanzten. Sie hatten für ihren Besitzer einen großen Prestigewert. Ausserhalb des Dorfes wurden sie zum Schutz mitgeführt, den die "dagol" genannten geschnitzten Figuren als persönliche Schutzgeister sicherstellten. Tribal Art DANCING WAND. Origin: Lobi. Burkina Faso. Technique: Wood carved, leather amongst others. Description: Figurative decorated dance wand "khuluor" with sitting figure in leather cape.
