Die großformatige Arbeit erscheint zunächst als geometrische Abstraktion, entpuppt sich jedoch bei näherer Betrachtung als eine chiffrierte Interpretation einer Bach-Suite, deren musikalische Struktur in eine raffinierte, gegenwärtige Bildsprache überführt wurde.Im Zuge ihrer Leidenschaft für die Druckgraphik entwickelte Linda Schwarz (geb. 1963) komplexe neue Drucktechniken, wie in der vorliegenden Arbeit. Linda Schwarz studierte zunächst in Stuttgart, dann in Berlin Bildhauerei, Freie Kunst und Musikwissenschaften. In Berlin war sie Studentin bei Joachim Schmettau, Isa Genzken, Eva-Maria Schön und Christina Kubisch. Anschließend ging sie nach Minnesota/Minneapolis, wo sie sich auf Druckgraphik konzentrierte und Assistentin von Karl Bethke wurde. Sie war zudem als Mitarbeiterin der Universal Limited Art Editions tätig und kam dadurch in Kontakt mit Robert Rauschenberg und Jasper Johns. Ihre Arbeiten sind in zahlreichen internationalen Sammlungen und Museen vertreten, wie beispielsweise im Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin und dem Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. - Einwandfrei (nicht ausgerahmt). Selten, Haberkamp nennt nur 7 Exemplare in öffentlichen Bibliotheken. Auf den internationalen Auktionen der letzten 30 Jahre wurden lediglich 3 vollständige Exemplare angeboten. - Der titelgebende zweite Satz Fuga Allegro basiert auf der 1783 von Mozart komponierten Fuge in c-Moll für 2 Klaviere (KV 426), die Anfang 1788 bei Hoffmeister in Wien erschien; Mozart selbst schrieb wenige Monate später das Arrangement für Streichquartett oder Streichorchester, und stellte das neu komponierte Adagio als einleitenden 1. Satz voran. EINBAND: Eine lose Lage und 3 lose Bll. Rare complete copy with all 4 parts; Haberkamp lists only 7 copies in public libraries, and there are only 3 complete copies to be found in international auctions for the last 30 years. - Loose sheets with engr. title and engr. notes (plate no. 159). - Margins foxed, recto in the upper corners with ms. numb. by an old hand, the part of the 1st violin (2 ll., incl. engr. title ) with some rodent damage to upper corner, with loss of paper and partly of the score. - Title at the bottom with ms. ownership entry 'K. Zappe', probably Karl Josef Z. (1812-1871), violinist, Domkapellmeister at Linz cathedral (and as such for some years supervisor of Anton Bruckner), 1842 founder of a string quartet.
