A parallel can also be drawn to the hand of Vanessa Bell (nee Stephen), who was also a figurative painter and painted still life subjects too. She also designed carpets, pottery and book jackets and was the daughter of Sir Leslie Stephen and elder sister of Virginia Woolf. See illustration
