In the painting, Mu Guiying appears valiant and resolute, embodying the heroic spirit of a courageous woman. The artwork is finely detailed, with vivid and lively colors. Black and hemp tones are used to illustrate a snowy battlefield, adding a solemn grandeur to the scene. The base bears the gold-on-red stamp "Made in Jingdezhen, China," marking it as a distinguished post-1949 Jingdezhen piece.穆桂英出征粉彩瓶,中国,中华人民共和国(1949 年至今)

Registration No: 223 AYB Frame No: 1368.33 MOT: ExemptStalled project with some partsA worthy projectFrom a deceased estateIn the mid-1950s, Velocette had two very different lines of motorcycles. Alongside the larger and more conventional M series, they produced a series of enclosed small-capacity four-stroke flat twins for the commuter market, when most of their competitors were producing two-stroke singles. Launched at the Earls Court Show in November 1956, the Velocette Valiant was a development of the Velocette LE. It had a two-piece cover that enclosed most of the crankcase and gearbox. This 1958 Velocette Valiant was purchased by the late vendor some considerable years ago and perhaps even from new. The restoration was started before he became ill and could no longer complete it. Sold with some additional parts, it is likely there could be some parts missing. It is offered with a V5C and many handbooks and is being offered without a reserve. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

* JOHN BYRNE RSA (SCOTTISH 1940 - 2023), VALIANT offset lithograph on paperframed and under glassimage size 32cm x 26cm, overall size 51cm x 45cmNote: John Byrne studied at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Schools of Art in the late 50s and early 60s. A superb painter and draughtsman, the multi-talented Byrne was also a first-class playwright (‘The Slab Boys’, ‘Tutti Frutti’), his ear for dialogue was as acute (and witty) as his eye for detail. Much of his subject matter in both disciplines is overtly autobiographical, he often included or refers to the Teddy Boy/Rock and Roll era of his youth. Byrne designed record covers for Donovan, The Beatles, Gerry Rafferty and Billy Connolly. His work is held in major collections in Scotland and abroad. Several of his paintings hang in The Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, the Museum of Modern Art and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow.
