A collection of bronze alloy human and animal ritual models, possibly Kond tribe, Orissa, Eastern India, 19th–20th centuryComprising two human figures, seven animal figurines in various postures, two ring-shaped stands in the form of cobras, and an additional stand. Together with an original letter from the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Indian Section, various study documents, and a journal published by the Royal Asiatic Society in 1858, which includes an article discussing the Kond tribe of Orissa. Size varies, with the tallest/longest piece (bronze figure with an urn on top) measuring 20.5cmProvenance: This lot, along with the preceding lot of two Deccan spittoons, originates from a private collection in Cambridgeshire. Pieces exhibit varying degrees of damage or breakage, except for the gazelle, the elephant, and one of the human figures, which are in relatively good condition (see images).
Likely Franz Bergmann (1861-1936): a late 19th or early 20th century Austrian cold painted bronze figure of a Native American brave lying prone under a blanket, stamped B within urn above Geschutz, and numbered 6578 inside painted figure, with 3573 stamp to the rim, 15.5cm long. Traces of paint still remain, though some loss due to rubbing and age.

A 12thC Chinese Song Dynasty celadon glazed funerary urn, decorated with nine applied (Daoist?) figures in robes, with an applied snake-like dragon and two applied stylised flowers above over a ribbed neck, together with a handwritten dealer's receipt from Denis Young dated 24th November 1991 at the Barbican Fair stating what it is with a price paid of £285, 35.5cm high.Condition: No apparent cracks or losses, noting some shallow chips and scuffs to the edges of piecrust rim, and a couple of small patches of losses to the celadon glaze across the body.
