A partridge wood inlaid and print decorated Tunbridge ware playing card box by Thomas Wise (1750-1807), of elongated octagonal form with box wood line edges and oval pointed escutcheon. The lid with a fine print titled internally 'The Parade, Tunbridge Wells - July 11th 1805 by T. Wise Tunbridge - W. Ralf Delin - P.W. Tomkins Engraver to Her Majesty', within a typical black on gilt border, four compartment interior in original pink paper, the divisions probably replaced, small repair to edge banding of lid, 18.4 x 14.7 x 5.2cms.                                                                                                † It is generally thought that George Wise succeeded Thomas in 1806, it is unusual to find the engraver and printers names on such labels.                                      From the Collection of Anne Wick
