A 19th century Tunbridge Ware rosewood writing slope, with marquetry scene of a ruined priory to centre of hinged cover, surrounded by a banded floral and foliate mosaic design, reverse hinged panel top decorated in same mosaic and inlayed geometric design; inside with full contents including twin glass inkwells with mosaic covers, dip pen with mosaic handle and page turner with mosaic handle, with further compartments; red velvet writing area to front hinged area, back hinged area with further inlaid mosaic design, exterior tapering with floral mosaic design, lockable with key, box as whole approx. 39cm wide x 30cm deep x 9cm high. Further details: writing slope to un-hinged area loose and in need of repair; felt to slope area with loss and in repair also; main front panel with impact damage to top left corner with loss and damage to border veneer; slight splitting and nicks / marks to ruined designed area and surrounds; some loss to mosaics and designs; overall age related wear and signs of usage etc.
