The first moulded with a seated Buddha before the wheel of Dharma flanked by apsaras, raised on plinth base, 10cm high exc. base, two South East Asian amulets, the first in bronze possibly Thai or Tibetan, cast with a standing Buddhistic figure, 7.5cm and another in gilt terracotta, moulded with a seated Buddhist figure (3) The first with small chip to front corner of terracotta base, slight surface wear, drilled at three points to base for mounting on metal plinth. Overall in good decorative order.The amulets with minor wear and surface scratching.

SEVEN THAI PELLET BOWS, 19TH/20TH CENTURY â—‰ the first constructed of bamboo, with D-shaped profile and symmetrical nodes located near the ears of the bow, with a decorative carved grip riser in the shape of a rodent, bound to the handle with rattan, complete with a rattan pellet bowstring; the second similar, of robust construction with rattan bindings along the bow and decorative black and yellow paint, the grip riser bound with thread and undecorated (missing bowstring); the third with elaborate paintings of peacocks on a red background, the nocks reinforced with ornamental silver tips, the grip riser with silver decorative swirls; the fourth painted with flower vase decorations, the nocks made from ivory, a visible repair to one of the ears of the bow; the fifth with delicate gold floral decorations on a green background, the nocks made of ivory (some contemporary restoration to the bow), the sixth made of wood, with elaborate carvings on the belly, the grip similarly decorated, one nock with two holes and the other notched; the seventh of bamboo, with black painted coating and complete with original string, longest pellet bow 145.0 cm (7) For a similar example, see item 1902.88.64 in the Pitt Rivers Museum, which was collected by the anthropologist Nelson Annandale in May 1902 in the large Thai village of Ban Phra Muang, at the mouth of the Trang River, on the Andaman Sea.

A ruby and colourless sapphire Thai princess ring, set with cabochon pear shaped rubies and round mixed cut colourless sapphires, in a tall setting, the band stamped 18k but tested as approximately 14ct gold, 5.20g Ring size MBuying this gemstone ring at auction could save up to 0.42 tonnes of CO2e compared to buying new. Condition ReportThere is repair to the band of the ring, in worn condition overall. A few ruby cabochons showing small surface reaching inclusions. Some colourless sapphires showing small chips to facet junctions. Settings appear secure. Minor tarnish.

Spiral designs occur on vessels with and without pedestals (like our specimen). In most cases the spirals fill the entire decoration field of the body. All spiral motifs appear to have been carefully planned before being painted. They cover the portion of the vessel normally visible to the observer, and not attempt is made to carry the design of the bottom of the vase.

From an important Cambridgeshire estate; thence by descent.In Ban Chiang pottery the most common body shape is an ellipsoid form with a rounded bottom covered by a low outflaring pedestal base. The neck variations include a low straight-sided neck and a higher outflaring neck. Body-pedestal juncture and body-neck juncture may be either angular or curved. The same neck variations occur on a globular body, in addition to a composite concave-convex neck form not occurring on the ellipsoid bodies. Again, all examples have low outflaring pedestal bases.
