French, likely Lambert ,19thC working Automata Antique gentleman doll , working, 24” tall including figure and plynth , and hands work to strum the guitar whilst heads turns, in original attire with velvet suit, guitar tasseled slippers and stockings. The structure is weighted painted composition white painted face and card symbols painted and the nose-a red tongue and hooded lids are static , and has original paperweight eyes. The figure is attached to the original musical key wind bases with 2 airs , including Polka Des Clowns-see label image ,and a stop start function all Working , with the paper label shown. The velvet carpet cover below his feet has been recovered likely later with braid. A remarkable detailed intriguing automata . The tune, mechanism and delicacy are this is a fine interesting piece.
