H. Gardner and Co. of Glasgow mahogany stick barometer, early 19th century, the swan neck pediment over a bow fronted case and glazed compartments enclosing silvered dials and mercury filled tubes over a shaped cistern cover, H97cm. There are air bubbles in the tube. Please see additional images.

Original silvered face in good order. - Weather conditions marked on graduated scale, with adjustable change slider. Annotated for temperature in Fahrenheit and Centigrade. Displays the maker's mark of Comitti Holborn and further marked as Made in England. Classic broken arched pediment with a decorative brass finial Mahogany inlay adds an elegant decorative touch. A George III mahogany stick barometer, by J. Search, Soho, London, c.1780, the silvered vernier scale in arched window, beneath three acorn finials, further signed to the lower scale, 103 cm.The tube seems intact and shows a consistent column of mercury that responds either up or down with the reservoir adjustment screw, the spirit of the thermometer is evident and looks as if it responds to a finger placed on the tube (but very faintly)Generally good order, and seems to be functioning, this is no guarantee of accuracy or reliability as with any antique scientific instrument..
