The seated female deity is adorned with a crown and a long flowing blue shawl, with her left hand held up and right hand against her chest. Size: 390mm x 360mm; Weight: 5.72kg Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / International art markets. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618-907. A terracotta court lady. She is depicted standing upright, wearing a short-sleeved long dress with red long undersleeves, and a blue shawl draped from her shoulders to the waist, with her hair arranged in a Wei Do knot. Her right hand is held in front of her chest, with the sleeves overflowing, while the left hand is held down. Size: 470mm x 145mm; Weight: 4kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.

A CHINESE QING DYNASTY EMBROIDERED SILK TASSELLED SHAWL. Embroidered in coloured and gold threads with a phoenix and a fish, flanked by scrolls and flowers on a pale salmon coloured ground, the ivory silk border embroidered in blue tones with bats, peony and scrolls, the coloured silk tasselled ends stitched with white metal discs, on sea-green silk backing, 117cm x 55cm overall Very minor staining to ivory trimming, some fading overall to salmon coloured silk, some small tears to salmon coloured silk along folds, some fading to blue trimmed border, slight wearing at edges, some loose threads and damage to tassels and net pattern. Some discolouration to silk backing.
Depicted with a wrathful expression, seated in lalitasana on a mule. The right arm is raised, while the left hand like holding a skull cup. The fierce face is characterized by glaring eyes, exposed sharp teeth, and a third eye between her bushy eyebrows. The flaming hair is swept upward, adorned with a crescent moon above a crown of five skulls. She wears a shawl draped over her shoulders, with a lion-shaped earring on her right ear, beaded jewelry, and a rosary of figural heads. 1920s girl's collared smocked silk dress, smocking includes squares and spirals, silk Christening gown with pleats and lace insets, embroidered silk bonnet, cotton bonnet, knitted shawl and a dolly bonnet, sold in a lined wicker basket. None of the items are soiled. The silk smock dress is in very good condition, it is a deeper colour than it shows in the photographs. The shawl has a few holes. The Christening gown is in very good condition. Bonnets are good. Additional photographs have been taken.
