A French Provincial Silver Soup-Ladle, Maker's Mark JC, a Sextant Between, Castres, 1819-1838 Fiddle pattern, the back of the handle engraved with initials, with round bowl35.5cm long, 7oz 6dwt, 228grMarked on back of handle. There is some minor wear to the marks but each is legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some minor pitting in the bowl.

Matthew Berge, London - Rare George III brass miniature sextant, circa 1810, signed 'M. Berge London' in cursive script, the limb reading from 0 to 130 degrees, with turned ivory folding handle, 8.5cm wide and deepSold with APHA permit: UPJ36X5C For over thirty years, Matthew Berge was first apprentice, employee and latterly Foreman to the noted scientific instrument maker Jesse Ramsden, at 199 Piccadilly, London. Following Ramsden's death in 1800, Berge was executor to his Will, completed all the major unfinished instrument commissions, repaid the debts accrued by Ramsden, and continued trading at the premises until his death in 1819.

A mid 20th century sextant by Henry Hughes & Son Ltd., in a fitted mahogany case, with detailed labels to the inside of the lid. Condition - good. Appears to be generally good condition, no cracks or chips. One of the lenses appears to have a piece of glass missing.All of the pieces move freely.The case is tatty.
