Sextant: historisch hoch interessanter Sextant aus dem Besitz von Kapitän J.C Leach, getestet in Kew 1940: Originales Holzgehäuse mit Besitzerschild Leach, ca. 26 x 26 cm, im Inneren das Testergebnis der Prüfung am Observatorium Kew 1940, Herstellersignatur Cary London, außerdem Besitzersignatur von Kapitän John Catteral Leach, sehr schöner Originalzustand, maritime Rarität. Captain John Catterall Leach , DSO , MVO (1. September 1894 – 10. Dezember 1941) war ein britischer Marineoffizier. Er war der einzige Kapitän des Schlachtschiffs HMS Prince of Wales während seiner kurzen Dienstzeit. Sehr bald nachdem die Prince of Wales 1941 in den aktiven Dienst gestellt wurde, kämpfte das Schiff unter Leachs Kommando in der Schlacht in der Dänemarkstraße und erlitt im Kampf gegen das deutsche Schlachtschiff Bismarck schwere Schäden. Trotz eines Vorschlags, Leach vor ein Kriegsgericht zu stellen, weil er die Schlacht mit der Bismarck nach dem Untergang der Hood abgebrochen hatte, wurde er für seine Rolle mit dem Distinguished Service Order ausgezeichnet . In dem Film „ Versenkt die Bismarck! “ aus dem Jahr 1960 wurde Leach von dem Schauspieler Esmond Knight gespielt.
