Note: Rangers legend Andy CunninghamBorn in Galston, Ayrshire, Cunningham '...began his career with local Junior side Newmilns before moving to Kilmarnock in 1909. After six seasons at Rugby Park he joined Rangers in 1915. He made his Rangers debut on 5 April 1915 in a 1–0 defeat to Partick Thistle, and made five appearances in his first season at Ibrox. Cunningham served as a lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War.Cunningham continued to be used infrequently by manager William Wilton before establishing himself in the Rangers team in 1918–19. He won seven League titles and played in Rangers' famous 1928 Scottish Cup Final triumph where they defeated Celtic 4–0 to win the trophy for the first time in 25 years. In total, he made 389 League and Scottish Cup appearances and scored 183 goals for the Govan clubCunningham was also capped at international level, playing 12 times for Scotland and scoring five goals; he lost just one of his matches for Scotland. Cunningham also represented the Scottish League XI 10 times.'

Rugby Interest: Two similar late Victorian 9ct gold Sporting fob medals, both of shield shape with central rugby balls surrounded by engraved areas stating "Yorkshire Rugby Football" followed by lower engraved section "Union", both having central enamelled red and white cross with five gold lions within, both awarded to a W.E Kaye (Forward position) of Alverthorpe F.C; one dated 1897-8 No 2. Competition. Other 1893-4 Intermediate Competition won by Alverthorpe F.C; 1893-4 medal hallmarked by Fattorini & Sons, Birmingham, 1893, other also by Fattorini & Sons, Birmingham, 1897, total gross weight approx. 35.6 grams, each approx. 4.7cm long. Both in fitted boxes. Together with a framed and glazed sepia photograph of Alverthorpe F.C, 1897-8, No 2 Competition Winners, 1893-4, Intermediate Competition Winners, photo approx. 29cm x 23.5cm. Note: Alverthorpe F.C were a Rugby Football club based in Alverthorpe, a suburb and former village in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Competitive in the late 19th / early 20th century and do not exist anymore as they amalgamated under Wakefield's name. They played at the Fox's Biscuits Stadium. Further details: the 1893-94 medal has enamel loss to mainly white areas but very slight loss to red area also; other medal enamel intact but has small scratch to lower half of enamelled area; both with wear and minor rubbing commensurate with age.
