A LARGE VICTORIAN GEOMETRIC PATCHWORK QUILT (2)Approx 170 x 170cm, together with another formed from hexagonal patches, 200 x 120cmCondition report: The quilt is made up of smaller diamond shaped patches and lacks a backing. The paper sections are present, torn and in fragments. The edges are generally worn, with tears and mis-shaped sections. One side with an area missing - approx 68cm long and several horizontal diamonds deep, see extra image. Other patches are torn but mainly towards the edges. Discolouration overall rather than patches. The one with hexagonal patches is lined at the back. Paper backing is evident. Some hexagons are torn in areas, about half dozen. The worse example is illustrated in the extra photos. The lining looks later and there are hanging loops., Some discolouration overall with the odd small darker spotting, mostly to the fabric that is waxed. See extra images. Both with loose cotton thread in areas.

To be sold jointly on behalf of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and the Injured Jockeys Fund: a superb horse racing quilt by the quilter-artist Brenda Martin Matthews (British, 1936-2022),titled on a stapled sheet “Every Ticket A Winner” and with details of an exhibition at Ascot Racecourse, featuring a highly colourful and striking geometric pattern featuring 24 racehorses and jockeys head-on, the jockeys applied with plastic goggles, stylised lily pond border, the reverse applied with a cloth by the accessories company Magnificent Mouchoirs with a printed design featuring the Racecourses of Great Britain, suspended from upper hanging pole, 145 by 130cm., fine condition.

A 19th century patchwork frame quilt, made by the Thornton sisters of Mirfield, Yorkshire, probably made between 1840-1860, 244cm square (8ft square) together with the book "Quilt Treasures" The Quilters Guild Heritage Search publication, 1st edition, 1995, hardback, with dust wrapper, this quilt is illustrated on the front cover and on page 18 / generally good condition, no rips or tears, some visible staining, see images
A 19th Century Military or Soldier's Quilt. Fashioned from the uniforms of soldiers who had taken part in the war, usually by injured servicemen, the presence of very bright colours (red, yellow and black) suggest it was made by soldiers present in India, 185cm x 225cmSimilar examples to be found in the V&A, American Folk Art Museum and the Stratford Perth Museum Condition Report: Moth damage mostly to the darker coloured material areas, leaving a large hole in one of the outer square sections. There is white paint spots to the back.
