The bell-shaped body decorated in underglaze blue with the arms of Carysfort of Normans Cross, within a rococo scroll and crowned cartouche, 11.5cm high, 13cm wide across handle. Norwich Castle Museum has a coffee pot with similar decoration (S. Smith Lowestoft Porcelain in the NCM) vol 1 page 110, item 122. It appears that both these pieces with this decoration were made for John Proby of Normans Cross Huntingdonshire who died in 1772. J. Howell collection no. L.433 Provenance- DM. Hunting sale Sotheby's 31 October 1961 John Worrell sale, David Gibbins, June 1986, £2,300. *CR Mug appears to be in very good condition, minor blemishes to rim.
