An unusual and scarce late 19th or early 20th century Japanese Meiji era carved bone warship, possible representing either a Shikishima class or Kawachi class vessel. Carved in bovine bone, with painted decoration to port and starboard, including a signature. The model features some incredible detail, such as tiny gun turrets, and each porthole being lined with tiny metal grommets. The modal is complete with its original bone stand. Approximately 13.9cm length, and 7cm height. Condition: very good. A tiny amount of wear to the painted decoration, but nothing that detracts whatsoever.
