Steel butt pad, chequered straight grip, half-length stock with ornate, embossed mounting inserts. Brass ended ram rod, fabulous Damascus barrels and rib. Percussion fences, S-curve hammers, treble-action grip, sidelocks, adorned with simple acanthus scrolled illuminated by emerging sun rays from the hammers. ornate guard with pistol grip formed from a bent scroll termination with an embossed starburst to the prominence of the grip. Ca. Early 19th Century AD.An early percussion cap pocket pistol with a smoothbore barrel and a percussion cap firing system. The receiver is signed on one side by the makers Tindall and Dutton, and is marked as having been made in London on the other. The external barrel is round. The wooden handle is squared rather than rounded and possibly made from walnut. This model does not feature a trigger guard as the trigger itself is concealable.Size: 185mm x 75mm; Weight: 250gProvenance: From the private collection of an Essex gentleman; previously in an old British Collection, formed in the 1990s.
Ca. AD 1840s.A finely crafted pocket pistol, likely from the 1840s, featuring a smoothbore barrel and a percussion cap firing system. The hammer is decorated with a lion's head and the receiver is engraved with swirling, plant-like imagery and a thick zig-zag border. The external barrel is octagonal and the wooden handle is rounded and textured for a better grip. Three: Bombardier P. A. Rudd, Royal Artillery (Mounted Bands) British War and Victory Medals (29774 Bmbr. P. A. Rudd. R.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (29774 Bmbr: P. A. Rudd. R.A. (Mtd: Bands.)) heavily polished and worn, with contact marks throughout, fair to fine, the last scarce to unit (3) £70-£90 --- Percy Arthur Rudd was born in Croydon in 1882 and attested for the Royal Artillery in 1898. He was later awarded the L.S.G.C. Medal on 1 April 1917 whilst serving in the Royal Artillery Mounted Band; consisting of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, it fell to musicians like Rudd to specialise in military band ensembles, with the intention of display at royal and state occasions. At the outbreak of the Great War, it was hoped that military scores would bolster morale, patriotism and recruitment figures, the orchestra later proving a popular success story across the country.
A mid Victorian transitional percussion six shot pistol by Parker, Field & Sons. Octagonal 4" barrel signed to the top flat Parker Field & Sons 223 High Holburn London, London proof marks to cylinder and underside of the barrel, serial No. 9774, the ramming lever signed Registered by Parker Field and Sons, engraved with foliate scrolls, chequered walnut grip, engraved butt cap with a central compartment with trapdoor for caps. Overall length 27.5cm.The action cocks, the cylinder rotates, and the trigger functions correctly.There is general light corrosion, the spring-loaded lever rotates and functions correctly. A rare 6 shot .36" Crimean War period British Ordnance issue Colt Model 1851 London Navy percussion revolver, number 14102 (1854), the breech bearing broad arrow over "WD" mark, the breech and cylinder bearing ordnance proof marks, with deeply stamped London address on the barrel, and with steel trigger guard and backstrap. GWO & Generally GC (well worn overall, probably from much service use, some deep scratches to one grip). Note In 1854 the British Government contracted for 4,000 Colt revolvers for the Navy Baltic and Black Sea fleets, so No 14102 is presumably one of these. £800-1000
