Harrison, [1863-66], 1259 pp., printed title, folding colour plate 'Edgeworth Bess being rescued from the Mohawks by Colonel Thorne' and original colour rear wrapper bound at front of volume I (lacking front wrapper), wood-engraved illustrations, some light spotting, contemporary cloth, joints and edges rubbed, 8vo, together with Black Bess; or, the Knight of the Road. A Romance, 2 volumes, [London: E. Harrison, 1866-68], 2028 pp., wood-engraved illustrations, lacking wrappers, a few leaves detaching, p. 53 in volume I toned, occasional light spotting, contemporary contrasting half cloth, volume I front hinge broken, volume II covers and spine detached, rubbed with some edge wear, 8vo QTY: (4)NOTE:Blueskin was traditionally attributed to Edward Viles (1842-1906), author of other Penny dreadfuls but it has lately been suggested it might be by James Malcolm Rymer (1804-1884); Black Bess was written by Edward Viles.Penny dreadfuls were mass-produced serialised sensationalist Victorian literature aimed at working-class young men, and mainly published from the 1830s, featuring characters such as Sweeney Todd, Spring-Heeled Jack and Dick Turpin, many titles were Highwaymen literature.

A collection of 19th and 20th century British postage stamps. The collection including both franked and unfranked stamps, including commemoratives and definitives. Featuring three Victorian Penny Black stamps (each red cancel, one four margin example), ten Penny Red examples, a selection of other Victorian and Edwardian postage stamps, and a large range of 20th century commemorative examples.
An original sixties film reel canister with the Apple Films Ltd. label in the centre. The label has the written annotation ‘The Beatles Penny Lane 35M E/Col Neg’ in black marker pen. ‘The Beatles Penny Lane – 7530 E/Col Neg’ is also written in black marker pen on a sticker around the outside. The film reel canister is now empty but it was originally used to house the 'Penny Lane' promo film. The canister measures 27cm (10.6 inches) in diameter. There are some small patches of rust, marks and tape residue across the film cannister. The condition is very good minus.

Great Britain Queen Victoria. A small collection of used stamps, each presented on a small black card. There are x7 ‘One Penny Black’ stamps, x1 (imperf) ‘Two Pence Blue’ stamp and x7 (imperf) ‘One Penny Red’ stamps (each with stars in top corners). Margins vary but some with three (or four) margins. Also x3 ‘Half Penny’ stamps c1870 (18 stamps).
Great Britain postal history. A small mixed collection, with some items on old album pages and others loose. Incl. items from the early 1800s through to a few later pieces, two with ‘One Penny Red’ stamps, one with a ‘Three Pence’ stamp from 1872, and another with a ‘Half Penny’ stamp and an 1875 Manchester postmark. There are also two pieces with ‘One Penny Black’ stamps from c1840. An interesting lot.

Mixed world collection in four albums and a black deed box. Noted useful New Zealand with several Chalon heads and advertisement underprints. Northern Rhodesia, Cape of Good Hope including several triangles. The deed box contains a superior mix of stamps in old glassine envelopes most appear to be pre 1920. A cursory look uncovered 9 GB 1d Penny Blacks (2-3 margin copies) and some interesting postal history including 2 Victorian covers where the address has been written as a verse.
