Rare Chinese embroidered silk robe end depicting curved stripes ending in rolling waves, ca. 1830. Possibly Jiaqing due to the color variations and intricacy. Personally owned and signed four times, with a near full page written about courts in his hand. Colonel Thomas Dawes (1731-1809) was an American Revolutionary War Patriot who served as a Massachusetts Militia Colonel; afterward assumed prominent positions in Massachusetts government. He was also an architect and builder who designed many of the most notable buildings in Boston, including the Old Street House and the Brattle Street Church. The cousin of William Dawes who rode to warn "The British Are Coming," along with Paul Revere On His "Midnight Ride". Bound in leather with decoration on front and back boards. 4to. A white, cottage-style front door, previously attached to the infamous residence at 10050 Cielo Drive, formerly rented by Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski. The door features nine glass window panels on the top, a center ledge, a brass knob, and a gold-tone lock. Please note: the front of the door appears to have been repainted.The home, designed c. 1942 by architect Robert Byrd and completed in 1944, was modeled after the style of idyllic European cottages. After completion, the home was occupied by French actress Michele Morgan, sold to Dr. Hartley Dewey and his wife Louise, then later, in the early 1960s, sold again to talent manager Rudolph Altobelli. Under Altobelli's ownership, the home was rented out to major stars such as Cary Grant, Terry Melcher and Candice Bergen, Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders, and in February of 1969, recently married Polish film director Roman Polanski and his pregnant wife, actress Sharon Tate. Tate and Polanski lived in the home for nearly six months when, in the early morning of August 8, 1969, members of cult leader Charles Manson's "family" entered the home on orders to murder everyone present, likely due to Manson's scorned relationship with a previous renter, Terry Melcher. Tragically taken that night were Tate and her unborn son, her ex-fiance and celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring, Folger coffee heiress Abigail Folger and her boyfriend Wojciech Frykowski, and 18-year-old Steven Parent, with the door serving as an exit point for Frykowski who was discovered on the front lawn.After being occupied by Altobelli again for nearly two decades, the manager sold the home in 1988 to a real estate developer. The home found its final resident in 1992 when Nine Inch Nails member Trent Reznor rented it while working on his sophomore album, Downward Spiral. Creating an at-home studio. Reznor recorded the album and lived in the home until having a conversation with Tate's younger sister, in which he had an epiphany. In a later interview, Reznor shared of his encounter, "She [Debra Tate] lost her sister from a senseless, ignorant situation that I don't want to support. When she was talking to me, I realized for the first time, 'What if it was my sister?' I thought, 'Fuck Charlie Manson. I don't want to be looked at as a guy who supports serial-killer bullshit.' The Saturday Evening Girls (SEG) Club, Boston. Group of three ceramic pieces including a teacup with a saucer and a small plate. Each marked SEG along the underside. The plate decorated with trees and marked E.G., possibly Edith Guerrier or Eva Geneco and numbered 19-7-12. The cup and saucer are decorated with repeating Art Nouveau designs in blue. The cup is also marked E.G. as well as F.B. The saucer is marked G.B. as well as T.M., possibly Teresa Molinari.The Saturday Evening Girls (SEG) Club and the Paul Revere Pottery (PRP), which grew out of it, began at the Boston Public Library in the 1890s. They were part of a social and cultural endeavor that grew out of the Arts and Crafts Movement, the growing Women's Movement, and the Settlement House Movement. It was founded by Edith Brown, Edith Guerrier and their benefactor, Helen Storrow. In total there were nine clubs for 4th to 7th grade children and high school girls that were each named for the day of the week on which it met. The pottery was the work of the older teens and young women of the Saturday Evening Girls Club. Artists included Albina Mangini, Frances Rocchi, Celia Goodman, Rose Bacchini, Sara Galner Bloom, Teresa Molinari, Tillie Block, Dina Harris, Ida Goldstein, Eva Geneco, Fannie Levine, and Lili Shapiro among others.Height ranges from 1/2 in to 2 in; diameter ranges from 3 in to 6 1/4 in.Condition: No major chips or losses. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. No visible chips along the rims. The cup has a hairline crack extending from the rim towards the center of the interior, measuring approx 2 1/2 in, which is also visible from the exterior. Light crazing to the interior of the cup. When inspected under UV light, there are water marks visible from the use. Wear along the underside. The cup has a minute glaze loss to the underside.

In 1955, Paul Revere Jr. began a forty-year career as a sales manager with Revere Copper Products, Inc., a company that traces its roots to his famous ancestor. He served for fifty-three years as president of the Paul Revere Memorial Association, the non-profit that operates the Paul Revere House in Boston. During his tenure, he guided the institution from a small house museum staffed by retired public firemen to a renowned research and educational institution. He also served for many years on the board of the Freedom Trail Foundation and was active in the process of creating the Boston National Historical Park.
