Three pieces of Portuguese Palissy Majolica pottery. To include two wall dishes one decorated with a snake attacking a lizard surrounded by moths and grubs on a green tufted mossy ground. (small chip to the snakes back) 15cm diameter. One decorated with a snake attacking a toad surrounded by moths and grubs on a green tufted mossy ground. (small loss to glaze on a moth wing) 15cm diameter. Each having an impressed marks by "Jose Alves Cunha" to base. A Palissy lidded jar decorated with a lizard, stag beetle, snake, moths and grubs. The lid topped with a snail. (some losses, tip of a moths wing, snail antennae, chips to the tufted mossy ground, small chip to the rim, loss to the glaze on the base.) 19cm high lid inclusive.

An early 20th century Portuguese Palissy ware grotesque majolica charger plate by Jose a Cunha. The charger modelled with naturalistic relief grassy glaze featuring central lizard eating a snake surrounded by smaller lizards, a frog, insects & a worm. Marked to verso with impressed mark Jose A Cunha Portugal, Caldas Rainha. Small amount of loss to the grassy rim.Measures approx. 31cm in diameter.

Three pieces of Portuguese Palissy ware pottery, including a wall pocket in the form of a monkey climbing a tree, by Jose A. Cunha, a wall pocket in the form of a bull's head with a wreath, and a dish of walnuts stamped M. Mafra Caldas (3)The bull has a small crack or repair by one ear. The walnut dish has a couple of restored rim chips. The monkey wall pocket has some restoration to the top of the monkey and the rim.

Mafra Caldas, the other with unidentified mark, 22cm and 23cm diameterSome minor losses to the grass. One has a small rim chip and some glaze wear to one of the lizards. The other plate has some restoration to one of the lizard heads.

Five pieces of English pottery and porcelain - comprising a Derby coffee can, painted with a river landscape vignette on a cobalt blue and gilt ground, red painted mark, 6.4cm high; a Staffordshire girl with lamb figure, 18cm high; a porcelain loving cup hand painted with sheep in a highland landscape by the ex-Royal Worcester artist Francis Clark, 8cm high, signed to base; a Royal Crown Derby 1299 pattern miniature lidded milk churn, dated 1913, 6.5cm high; and a Palissy majolica glazed miniature square jardiniere, with tree branch supports and oak leaf and acorn decoration, 9.3cm high. (5) * The Derby coffee can has a glued repair to the handle, a tiny star crack to the base and some gilt wear. The Palissy jardiniere has a chip to the top of one of the log-form uprights and some glaze flaking to the exterior. The three other pieces are in good condition.

Jose Alves Cunha (Portuguese, 1849-1901) - Two Palissy Ware Majolica Plates, one featuring a snake with another snake's head in its jaws, a frog, an earthworm, shells and a moth, the other with a large central toad with a smaller frog, snake, earthworm, moths and shells, on shaped bases, each 9.5ins diameter overall, with impressed marks and 'F' to reverseSnake plate - both moth wings chipped, small chips to footrim Toad plate - snake has a restored area approximately 3ins long near the head end and one wing on the largest moth has been restored, the extent of which is difficult to determine. Green caterpillar has end of tail missing. Otherwise these plates appear to be in reasonably good condition.
