Unusual George III Silver Gilt Needle Forceps, possibly by William Eley I & William Fearn, 1804/5, London, forceps with undulating arms to finger rings, the jaws with fenestrated interior – 16.5cm. long, 82g. Note: Mr Jimmy Sandes, founder of the Silver Society, gave these forceps to the vendor in 1981. The vendor believed a similiar example can be seen in the 'Grundy' collection at the Science Museum. A similiar pair was not located at the Science Museum in London nor at the Museum of Medicine and Health, the latter which has a Hull Grundy Collection. Anne Hull Grundy (née Ullman) (1926-1984) was an art historian and a prolific antique collector with interests including ivory objects, jewellery, netsuke and ceramics from the age of 11. The British Museum describes her as ‘one of the most significant collectors of jewellery and a generous benefactor’. She married John Hull Grundy in 1949. John Hull Grundy (1907 – 1984), a true polymath was a draughtsman, artist, anatomist, entomologist, medallist and collector. They gifted much of their collections to British museums.
A group of collectors' items, including a 19th century carved coconut, a Victorian treen pounce pot, a toy police car, a spirit flask, a Victorian leather case, a pair of brass boot chimneypiece ornaments, a treen horse netsuke, a model of the Post Office Tower, a koala bear glass paperweight by Mats Jonasson, and a small Chinese vase.

Under raking light a network of light superficial scratches can be seen and the finish appears a little uneven and patchy. Examined under UV light there are some small scattered spots of retouching with some further restoration to the right edge. Please see additional condition images.
Including a Beijing red glass snuff bottle, carved in relief with prunus (no stopper, 6.5cms high), a carved agate snuff bottle with stopper (7.5cms high), and a Japanese carved wooden netsuke in the form of acorns and a leaf (4.5cms long). (3). *CR Glass snuff bottle, no stopper, various chips to the rim, small chip to base, small chips to the body including leaves and branches. Agate snuff bottle, chip to the side of the rim and internal bruises, stopper is a little worn on the top Netsuke, small nibbles to the side of the leaf underneath, otherwise seems in generally good order.
