Veneer replacements to lower margin of front, left had side lower edge. This strip missing from right side lower margin. Shrinkage faults and the whole with signs of regular wax polishing but possibly cleaned back slightly 30 years ago or so. All metalware looks to have been replaced, interior lids possibly a fruitwood and possibly replaced. Carcase looks to be oak but hard to see as mostly covered Please see additional images for visual references to condition which form part of this condition report. BP). Please note, the stand to this lot is associated and incorporates some old timbers. The dating and cataloguing for this lot has been revised and differs from the printed catalogue. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use Various old chips, splits and losses Metalware replaced - handles and escutcheons are replacements but suite the piece well There is evidence to the drawer fronts of previous fixtures, including wear, shadows and filled holes Key is present but does not operate the locks, all locks are open Some areas of retouching Backboards possibly original. The gild decoration to the sides, the stand and the borders of the drawers are old later additions The main decoration of the drawer fronts to the upper section with some retouching. The main body of the stand incorporates old timbers but appears to have been made to match the upper chest section - it also incorporates various later timbers including interior blocks to the carcass, backboard and drawer linings. The top possibly reveneered, although if it has it does not appear to have been done recently, with shrinkage splits and repairs visible. Further small losses, splits, scratches and small replacement sections to veneer throughout. Evidence of some replacement to metalware. Slide and drawers run smoothly, with general wear within. Some repair and replacement to drawer liners. General knocks and wear to feet. Joints sound and solid. Re polished. Overall appears in fair, usable condition.

Dust and dirt present. The glass oil shades appear to be in good order. The doors slightly stiff but move well. In need of re-wiring. Small chip to corner of one glass panel, otherwise they're in good order.

Evidence of historic woodworm damage which does not appear active. Metalware is later. General wear to drawer interiors and drawers run smoothly. No key present. Foliate apron appears later. A small amount of lateral wobble but the joints are generally sound and solid. Overall, the piece appears in fair restored order.
