1951 MG YA SaloonRegistration number UMG 214Chassis number Y6436Engine number XPAGSC13095Indigo blue and silver with a grey leather interior pipped in blueAffectionately known as MaggieFrom a deceased estateAn older restoration from the chassis upGarage stored for some timeGood history fileA scarce MG to see today, one of the later 6,158 YA's to roll off the production line at AbingdonWill need some re-commissioningFrom the family Here’s some information about Maggie: This classic 1951 MGYA was lovingly renovated by her amateur car restorer owner after finding her in 1985 as a rusty shell in a farmyard. This restoration was a personal labour of love with the owner doing all of the work by himself (with some guidance from a close family friend who restored vintage vehicles). He happily spent many hours in the garage stripping her down, rebuilding the engine, spraying the bodywork, re-instating the sunroof, polishing the woodwork, restoring the headlining and rear roller blind (with the help of his wife) and re-upholstering the interior in quality leather.  Affectionately known as 'Maggie' the car was well-loved by the owner and his family. She was a regular at local car shows, including Tredegar Park and Margam Park, winning awards including ‘Car of the Show’ at Caldicot Castle. The owner was an active member of the Octagon Car Club and Gwent Classic Car Club. Sundays in the summer were spent taking Maggie on countryside drives, and she was also used for family weddings. She was a part of countless happy memories. In 2014, when the owner became too ill to drive, Maggie was carefully stored under blankets in the garage, where she has remained until now, waiting for someone new to appreciate her. The car oozes style and elegance with her indigo and silver bodywork, chrome detailing and grey leather interior. The silver cat emblem mounted on the petrol cap was added by the owner as a tribute to the much-loved family cat 'Penelope'. Comes with MOT certificates, tax discs, restoration photographs and some history. All lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
