An Indian Military Issue MKII Kukri by Pioneer Calcutta, dated 1943, in seeminlgly repurposed Canadian military machete sheathe, overall length 44.5cm, by repute gifted by to LAC Robert by a Gurkha, the brown leather scabbard inscribed 'F N Robert' and stamped 'H. Carson Ottawa 1944'4. A pair of Iris Paris binoculars in leather caseFootnote:LAC F.N Roberts enlisted at Padgate and joined between September 1939 and February 1940. He served in India (182 Wing), Burma (67 Sqn), Malaya (136 Sqn) and Singapore (615 Sqn). His membership records for the Burma Star Association are available online. 182 Wing, headquartered in Bengal, had overall responsibility for the listed Squadrons. No. 67 Squadron, flying Hurricanes, was based at various locations before disbanding at Akyab, Burma, on 14 May 1945. No. 136 Squadron, equipped with Spitfires, also operated from several airfields before relocating to Singapore in October 1945, moving again the following month. No. 615 Squadron, also flying Spitfires, was disbanded at Vizagapatam, India, on 25 September 1945. Based on this information, it is likely that he arrived in Singapore with No. 136 Squadron in October 1945, and remained there after the disbandment of No. 615 Squadron.
A 1909 Argentinian short sword / machete side arm, made by the German manufacturer, Weyersburg Kirschbaum & Co Solingen. Also marked to the ricasso ‘Modelo Argentino 1909’ and the crest of Argentina. With riveted wooden slab grips, and curved pommel. S shaped cross guard, stamped with the serial number D06573, which matches the accompany scabbard. Single edged blade with flat spine and quill point, and with a fuller. Complete with steel scabbard, with teardrop shaped frog stud. Approximately 52cm length in scabbard, blade length 37.1cm. Condition: generally good. Normal service and age related wear, with some darkening to the steel and some mottling in places. Slightly rounded tip to the blade.

A RARE PIONEER MACHETE KNIFE BY RABONE BROS & Co., BIRMINGHAM, mid-19th Century, with 14in. single-edged blade, 2in. deep with shallow clipped point, stamped with the company trademark of a lion couchant over 'RABONE BROS. & Co / CAST STEEL' to one side, horn grips secured by four rivets, together with its original brown leather scabbard, staining to the blade, and trademark and script rubbed, some cracking to the grips but remain tight, scabbard worn with presumed loss of the throat fitting and loss to the point, 19in. overall. Two vintage machetes, both with single edged blade, with one also having a fuller. Both with slab horn grips, with each secured by four rivets. One machete is unmarked, with another having ‘No.28’ stamped to the ricasso, and a faint markers mark, but this is unreadable. One machete is approximately 73.5cm in length, with the other being 64.4cm in length. Condition: normal age related darkening to the blades, plus some service wear to the handles. A few edge nicks to the edges of the blades, and some light surface corrosion spotting. Both respective sheathes are missing.
