A live steam 7 1/4 inch gauge Bassett-Lowke style Precursor 4-4-0 steam locomotive, composing black body with red lining and number 513. The locomotive was built by a member of the Halton Miniature Railway Society to a design by Len Hough over 30 years ago and was regularly used. It measures approximately 125 cm (L) x 35 cm (W) x 55 cm (H), the tender measures 82 x 35 x 45 cm. The locomotive has been in storage for over 20 years and is unchecked for completeness, there is no boiler certificate. A collection of German Basset Lowke and other water line model ships comprising a hand painted grey wooden ship with Tennessee name label to base, x3 smaller wooden ships with grey painted hulls ( SS John Robertson, M.V Colchester and SS Benham ), a grey handed painted wooden ship with pencil written HMS London and x2 other metal examples. Largest measures approx 16cm.
Bassett-Lowke 4-4-0 loco & tender, LMS red Compound No.1108. The electric motor appears to be a non-B/L replacement, voltage not identified, modern centre rail pick-up fitted, no control rods fitted. Various areas of re-touching. With 6-wheel LMS tender similar paintwork condition to loco. Overall (F-G)
Two 0 gauge locos. Believed Bassett-Lowke 'Duke of York' 4-4-0 loco & tender, clockwork, green, no nameplates, '1930' on the smokebox door and can sides, LNER on tender. Control knobs missing. The paintwork on the loco appears original but in poor condition. Tender total repaint, unlined. With an unidentified 2-4-2 tank loco, electric, wheels do not turn freely. Finescale wheels. Corrosion showing through the long-ago repaint. Both locos require serious renovation.
Bassett-Lowke LMS standard compound 4-4-0 loco & tender, electric 3-rail. This loco is an almost total repaint. It seems to be BR 41109 version black but has been repainted LMS red as No.1109. Brush strokes are clearly visible. The smokebox & smokebox door are the only items of original paint. Fitted with a small can motor.
Bassett-Lowke 0-6-0 Standard Goods loco & tender, black lined red, 1456 on cab sides, LNER on tender. Fitted with an electric motor & centre rail pick-up, but no cab control rods. Noticeable corrosion to connecting rods, and various parts of bodies for both loco & tender. Some damage to the cab roof. (F )
Two 1932-5 Bassett-Lowke 4-4-0 locos & tenders Princess Elizabeth LNER green No.2265. One was clockwork, now with the motor removed and partly made ready for an electric motor, not fitted, but modern centre rail pick-up fitted. Replacement un-painted driving wheels. Very few marks on the paintwork but cab slightly distorted. The tender has creases on both sides, replacement wheels and very few marks. The second loco is clockwork, with key, and driving wheels heavily overpainted, with very few marks to paintwork. Tender wheels with axles are separated but present, paintwork marked, and sides with some creases.
A pair of bogie corridor coaches consisting of a Leeds Model Co. Ltd. LMS paper-sided corridor coach, complete with original bogies, two broken buffers, and faded sides, together with a Bing for Bassett Lowke 1921 LNWR all 1st coach, with original bogie frames, and replacement wheels, and one missing coupling. Both are in fair to good condition.
Bassett-Lowke Live Steam Model of “The Queen Mary, red/black/white painted wooden hull fiited with single propellor and rudder, three detailed Cunard tinplate/metal funnels, painted superstructure, 24 covered lifeboats and two masts, anchors with chains, flag, with brass plaque to deck “Bassett-Lowke Ltd. Model Engineers-Northampton-London-Manchester” driven by a single-cylinder engine, connected to a water tube spirit fired boiler with a Bassett-Lowke pressure gauge, in original carry case. Approx 39 inches (99 cms) Long, in good original condition, dusty where the model has been on display.Clean and tidy.
