William 'Bill' Marshall (1923-2007) at Leach Pottery Tall pitcher or jugiron glazeimpressed potter's and pottery seal marks near the footrim35cm high. Minimal glaze and firing faults as expected. Chip to spout circa 4mm. Section to internal rim which appears different from the rest, this about 4cm in length, 2cm deep. Looks like a bit of patching up. New photos added.

Overall both seem ok with minimal glaze faults due to the firing. No damage that we can see.

Provenance:The late Oliver Watson (1949-2023), British Studio Pottery expert at the V & A, Emeritus Professor of Islamic Art and Architecture and curator of Islamic Art at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and the School of Oriental Studies, London.Oliver Watson curated the pottery component of the 1985 Tate Britain exhibition St. Ives 1936–64 and contributed an essay on ceramics to the 1989 catalogue of the first major exhibition outside Britain to celebrate the work of St. Ives artists and potters, when St Ives potters toured Japan. In 1990 he published his groundbreaking book, British Studio Ceramics: a catalogue of the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, which was reprinted in 1993 as Studio Pottery: Twentieth-Century British Ceramics in the Victoria and Albert Museum Collection. At present, there is no condition report prepared for this lot, this in no way indicates a good condition, please contact the saleroom for a condition report.
Trevor Corser (1938-2015) A Leach Pottery, St. Ives jar and cover, glazed stoneware impressed pottery and personal monogram marks, 23cm high; sold together with one further St. Ives vase, probably also by Trevor Corser, but with marks obscured by the glaze, 19cm high (2)Condition:Good condition with no damages or repairs. A small section of glaze loss to the rim of the cover, possibly on manufacture.
A large David Leach foxglove pattern studio pottery stoneware bowl The brown and blue /grey decoration depicting a stylised foliate spray to each side, above two concentric brown bands, the oatmeal ground with brown speckles throughout, with impressed Lowerdown pottery seal mark, 25cm diameter.
Tim Andrews (B. 1960) - A vintage late 20th-century ceramic raku vase, with smoky yellow, blue, and pink colours to a charcoal background to the exterior and a crackle glaze to the interior. Bublous shaped body. Impressed 'TA' mark to the bottom of the vase. Measuring approx. 15cm tall.Tim Andrews is an English studio potter, who specialises in smoke-fired and raku ceramics. Andrews trained as an apprentice to David Leach and studied at Dartington Pottery Training Workshop before setting up his first studio in 1981. In 1986 he returned to Lowerdown and now has a studio at Woodbury in Devon. He is a part of the Craft Potters Association and has published a number of books on the craft of raku. He exhibits his work internationally and is found in both public and private collections including, the Ashmolean Museum, St John's College, Oxford, New York, Lord Chancellor Lord Irving, and more.

† MICHEL FRANCOIS; a large stoneware moon jar covered in iron and streaky cobalt glaze, incised signature, height 34.5cm.Francois graduated from Falmouth University in 2002, followed by a residency at the Leach Pottery, St Ives, Cornwall before setting up his own studio in Falmouth. His work was exhibited at the London Design Fair, the Leach Pottery Museum in 2019 and Collect in 2020, and in 2021 his moon jars featured in the ‘Moon Jar a Piece of Happiness' exhibition at the Han Collection in London. Stamped along the footrim.Warren MacKenzie was a renowned Minnesota studio potter. A student of Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, he is credited with bringing the functional Mingei tradition to the United States, and spreading it through his own art and mentorship of students during his long tenure at the University of Minnesota.Height: 3 3/4 in x diameter: 5 3/4 in.Condition: No chips, cracks, losses, or signs of restoration when examined under UV light. Extremely light crazing throughout. There is extremely light wear along the footrim consistent with age and use.
