At the time of assay (1898) they are likely to have lived in Ticehurst Sussex. We would expect that the owner to be George John COURTHOPE Esq JP DL, (1848-1910) a Barrister who in 1876 had married Elinor Sarah LOYD (1853-1895) daughter of Lt. Col. Edward LOYD of Littesden, Kent. George John COURTHOPE was the son of George Campion COURTHOPE (1811-1895) of Hurstpierpoint by Anna DEACON (1817-1897).
