Katharine PLEYDELL-BOUVERIE (1895-1985) Vase Stoneware, height 7cm.A large chip is present on the lip of the piece (please see additional image). Given the overall irregular appearance of the piece it is difficult to tell whether the base has conditional issues or whether the rough texture was the potter's intention during the making process (please see additional images).

Katharine PLEYDELL-BOUVERIE (1895-1985) Small bowl, stoneware, blue glaze over wave pattern around the exteriorDiameter 11.5 cm Impressed makers seal, glaze recipe number to foot: L11Exhibited Galerie Besson, London, Summer Exhibition, 1988, with purchaser's receipt for £120. At first glance this charming bowl is perfect, however, when examined under UV light there is an area of repair to the glaze measuring approximately 3.5cm in width visible to the outside of the bowl (please see images) this competent repair is visible to the naked eye in natural light once you know where to look (please see images). There is also a little rim repair visible under UV light (please see image) this is not visible in natural light. There is no damage or repair visible to the inside of the bowl.

▴ Norah Braden (1901-2001),a stoneware vase, with a green ash glaze, faint painted artist's monogram,17.5cm highNorah Braden studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, and later at the Royal College of Art, London. She went to work at the Leach Pottery in St Ives from 1925 - described by Bernard Leach as his most gifted pupil - before joining Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie at her pottery at Coleshill, Wiltshire. Braden's work was wood-fired and simply painted using brushwork decoration. If pieces did not meet her exacting standards, she would destroy them.Braden ceased potting in the 1950s, to switch her focus to teaching, and she taught at Brighton School of Art and Camberwell College of Arts until her retirement in 1957. Condition ReportCrazing to the glaze. No restoration or damage. With a small firing mark to the exposed clay. With some dark underglaze marks. With a notable glaze bubble to the lower end of the glaze with a firing crack to the inside. Additional images added.

Pleydell-Bouverie made quite a few unglazed pots just before and during the war, mainly because certain glaze ingredients were very difficult to obtain.
