A collection of three sixties original membership cards from various clubs which The Beatles used to frequent. It consists of the items listed below. A Scotch of St. James's introduction card. In his biography of Paul McCartney, Barry Miles writes, 'The Ab Lib club burned down in 1965 and already people were defecting to the Scotch Of St James's. The Scotch was on two floors at 13 Mason's Yard, an old stable yard hidden of Duke Street, St James's in the heart of Burlington Bertie clubland. Members were auditioned though a sliding panel in the thick wooden door before being granted admission. Paul McCartney: "The Moody Blues used to hand out there so much that there was a corner called 'The Moody Blues corner'. It was a cool little place to go. The Scotch was pretty good." A membership card from The Bag o' Nails. In Barry Miles' biography of Paul McCartney, Paul comments, 'The Bag o’Nails, the big one. That was my favourite in the end. That was where I met Linda. Bag o’Nails, down the bag. It was supposed to have been a hookers’ hangout before. It probably was then, too. The thing about the Bag o’Nails was that they had live music. Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames were down there, Alan Price played down there a lot and Jimi Hendrix eventually. I became quite a regular.' A membership card for the Speakeasy club. This was situated at 48 Margaret Street, London and was a venue at which The Beatles could be seen quite frequently in the late sixties. On 3rd July 1967, after finishing up and releasing the 'Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band' album, the Beatles threw a private party at the Speakeasy Club in London, England for members of The Monkees who were in town for three sold out concert dates at the Empire Pool venue.
