The headboards and footboards with surface marks throughout commensurate with use. The iron rails with scratches and marks to both examples. One example with a loose bolt. A Charles II oak tester bed, West Country, parts later, the ring turned posts supporting a sixteen panel tester carved with lozenges, the profusely carved headboard with twin arcaded panels flanking a central cupboard door, with stiff leaf and flower uprights and punch marked decoration overall, with fitted mattress, 132cm wide, 200cm deep, 186cm high in totalOverall looks good, ready to use, the usual scuffs and knocks in line with age and usage. The deep side rails and the square sections below turned posts perhaps later.Hand crafted Vi-Spring 'Earl de Luxe' mattress 4'6 x 6'2. Looks clean and tidy.
Elizabethan design oak 5' Kingsize four-poster bed, the canopy with projecting moulded and gadrooned cornice over applied strapwork frieze, Ionic capital over tapering fluted posts with cup and cover balusters carved with gadroons and acanthus leaves, terminating to square supports with applied strapwork and split turnings, the panelled headboard carved with a coat of arms and inscribed 'WJR' dated '1857', possibly for the Rawson Family who rebuilt Nidd Hall in 1825, with motto 'Reddens Laudes Domino', decorated with arcades and further applied strapwork, with floral and urn pattern chintz curtains and matching bedspread Provenance: Nidd Hall: acquired by Guy Reed from Richard Butler, 17th Viscount Mountgarret, in 1968Dimensions: Height: 232cm Length/Width: 183cm Depth/Diameter: 223cmCondition Report: The head and posts are connected by VONO bars, later side and end rails. A Mahogany 4ft 6ins Bedstead of Georgian Design with Shaped Head and Footboards, on turned and reeded columns with pineapple terminals, on turned feet and castorsThis item is 57ins wide x 83ins long x 63.5ins high. Board - general light scattered scratching and darker staining to the wooden components. The fluted uprights are slightly rubbed with some general edge knocks and the same for the stretchers. Some minor scratches to the footboard and there is evidence of adhesive build-up to the joints in the corners. Stretchers and supports - later added pine slats, each side is heavily rubbed and has edge knocks and has later metal brackets added. Heavily scratched and rubbed. Headboard - general scattered scratching to the wooden components. On the top section of the headboard there is a shrinkage split running horizontally from one end to the other. Darker polish build-up. The pinecone finials are heavily rubbed and worn. Same for the fluted uprights. On the right hand side there is some adhesive build-up and evidence of repair. General heavier wear to the base and feet commensurate with age. We confirm the item does come apart for transport.

Suite of light oak bedroom furniture, labelled Gordon Russell, Broadway, Worcs, including a three-drawer chest of drawers, width 95cm, height 74cm; side table with two drawers; table mirror, circular plate supported on a ratchet; cheval mirror; two-drawer modular chest; two stools and two similar pedestals; together with headboard and a two-door wardrobe; and an oak table lamp.Condition report:The bedside cabinets have shadows and adaptations to one side so they may have been attached to a headboard at some point, or even adapted from a dressing table (although the tops looks like they belong). Various marks and stains to the tops. Drawers are sound.Wardrobe - some scratching to the door fronts, the sides also have some scratch marks that might need remedying. It remains perfectly functional. The two halves of the carcass are held together by two large metal plates on the top.Three-drawer chest of drawers - good overall, some colour fading to the top. Not heavily marked or scratched and the drawers remain sound.Dressing table - the top quiet heavily faded. Drawer linings are stained. No significant scratches or breaks.Small two-drawer chest - some spot staining but generally good. The drawers have quite a strong odour (similar to cedarwood).Cheval mirror - good condition, strong frame, mirror plate appears original.Rectangular stool - some splits to the tops of the legs. The seat pad has lost some shape and support in the stuffing.Sqauer stool - repairs to the top of one leg, with a reglued splice of wood approximately 5cm long.Table lamp - good overall, colours a little faded.Headboard - some colour variation but generally good, no splits
