Registration - SFF 196Chassis No. - 141004259M.O.T. - July 2025Odometer - 33,250Beautifully presented in classic Bronze Green, this example of Land Rover’s Series II pick-up is fitted with a khaki canvas roof. ‘SFF 196’ has an upgraded engine under the bonnet, now using the later, popular Land Rover 200 TDI unit; this 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel is matched to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Other features include freewheeling hubs, halogen headlights, and parabolic springs – all wrapped in the famous Land Rover bodywork, kept in excellent condition. With a number of familiar features for Land Rovers of the same period, ‘SFF 196’ includes mud-flaps, rear grab handles, bonnet-mounted spare wheel, galvanised bonnet clips, rear light guards, and door-mounted wing mirrors; the latter replacing the usual bonnet-mounted mirrors for improved rearward visibility, which are included in the sale. ‘SFF 196’ sits on a set of the highly-regarded Goodyear G90 tyres, and there is a ball and pin towbar with electrics for towing.A three-seat ‘deluxe’ bench is fitted in the front, the outer with high backs and inertia seatbelts – the centre has a lap belt, all upholstered in black leather. The rear bed houses twin, removable bench seats, with load mat fitted, and protecting everything from the elements is the canvas roof, described in ‘like new’ condition. The seller rates the interior as in ‘good’ condition throughout, which includes the original steering wheel, while twin wipers, a Clayton heater with front demist, and footwell mats are all present. The vendor rates the engine and transmission as in ‘good’ condition too, and states that the change in powerplant improves in-gear acceleration, greater power, a quieter cruising speed, and improved fuel economy – further boosted by overdrive and free-wheeling hubs – over the original unit, while the revised springs improve ride comfort. Despite being exempt, the Series II comes with an MOT until August 2025, and the remainder of the Land Rover is also considered to be in strong overall condition; the electrics and paintwork described as ‘good’ and the bodywork rated ‘average’.Beautifully cared-for and highly desirable example of Land Rover’s Series II pick-upFitted with modern 200 TDI engine and revised springs for comfortEquipped with rear seating and ‘as new’ canvas roofFamously designed by Maurice Wilks in the sand of Red Wharf Bay, not even the most optimistic of on-lookers could have expected the runaway success that the Land Rover would become. It all started in 1948 with the Land Rover 80” – though clearly it became known as the Series I; initially it was simply the Land Rover. It came about essentially as a stop-gap for Rover to produce affordable vehicles in post-war Britain, and although inspired by the Willys Jeep, it went on to become hugely successful – not just in terms of sales, but in capabilities too. Over time, Land Rover realised that continued and significant improvements would need to be made, and in 1958 these were significant enough to create a Series II Land Rover, thereafter ensuring the original versions became known as the Series I. The Series II ran from 1958 until 1961 and introduced further variants, including a 12-seater version, as well as Forward Control commercial models, until it was replaced by the Series III 1971.

An exceptional second generation Escort RS Turbo with just 29,264 miles from new. Based on the success of the original model, the Series 2 Escort RS Turbo (produced between 1986-1990) was more suited to daily use, whereas the earlier car was a bit of an 'homologation special'. Many new features were introduced for the S2 including utilising the 1,600cc, fuel-injected, CVH engine taken from the S1 Turbo but now fitted with the Garrett T3 turbo (water-cooled, unlike the S1), revised engine management settings, lower overall gearing, an improved gearbox and limited-slip differential, a larger clutch and improved KE-Jetronic unit and inter-cooler. Suspension and chassis changes included stiffer front and rear springs, uprated anti-roll bars, mechanical ABS and larger brakes. The S2 produced an impressive 132bhp at 5,750rpm, with maximum torque of 133lb/ft produced at 2,750rpm, offering ample performance with a top speed of 125mph and a 0-60mph time of 8.3 seconds. Although on paper these figures were a tad down on the Series 1, the new car was considerably easier to drive quickly and was effectively a faster car.The car presented here is a 1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 (1990-spec) first registered HDZ 2288 on 9th November 1989 and supplied new by Lindsay Cars Ltd, an RS main dealer in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. A little later, it moved to Southern Ireland, from where it was imported to the UK in 2017 prior to being offered for sale by ourselves in 2019. At that point it had covered a mere 29,000 miles, corroborated by early supplying dealer Ford service history and many previous MOT Certificates. At the time (November 2019), we described the car as 'An immaculate example in original unrestored condition, with all original panels and an untouched shell, the engine bay is virtually to show standard, the interior is almost completely unmarked and the car has never been modified from new and remains completely standard'. Our vendor was looking for the best he could find when he bought it and has continued to look after the little Ford to a similar standard, if anything, taking the level of detailing a little further. The alloy wheels have never been refurbished and are still wearing their four original Goodyear NCT50 tyres, the spare alloy and original tyre are unused whilst the luggage compartment looks like brand new. The original Ford exhaust was replaced due to age, with a bespoke replica of the original fitted and the brakes were previously overhauled.During the five years in our vendor's ownership, the car has been stored in a 'bubble' at a respected classic car specialist where it is looked after to a high standard. It will be detailed, serviced and freshly MOT'd prior to the auction so will be in immaculate condition and ready to drive away. It's not a secret that high performance Fords from this era are becoming sought after and we take pride in finding some fabulous examples to bring to market, however this is certainly one of the best examples we have seen and we encourage your inspection at the NEC.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT RS TURBO Year: 1989 Chassis Number: WF0BXXGCABKC87922 Registration Number: G866 ATL Transmission: Manual Engine Number: KC87922 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 29264 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
Now with something of a 'cult-following', these supremely well engineered 'super-saloons' are highly coveted. From long and dedicated ownership, this is very fine example. The legendary Lotus Carlton is the kind of car that comes along once in a generation. At a time when really fast four-door saloons were the preserve of BMW and Mercedes, this Vauxhall (the Opel-badged LHD derivative was the Lotus Omega) derived 'super-saloon' arrived on the scene, demolishing the opposition. Oddly, it wasn't its huge performance or masculine good looks that created the most fuss, but the fact that the Daily Mail was so outraged by its stated top speed of 176mph that it declared it too fast for British roads. Of course, the Lotus Carlton - or Type 104 to Lotus aficionados - was nothing of the sort and although it shared its major components with a mainstream executive car, its level of development across every aspect of automotive dynamics had resulted in a truly special performance car.Production of the Lotus Carlton began in 1990, four years after the original Carlton/Omega went on sale. Vauxhall/Opel had hoped to build 1,100 cars in total, but owing to the recession of the early 1990s, the Lotus Carlton, priced at £48,000, was not selling as well as anticipated, and production at Lotus was halted in December 1992. Only 950 cars were completed: 320 Carltons and 630 Omegas, 150 short of the original target. It was powered by a twin-turbo version of the venerable straight-six used in the range-topping Senator, which developed a remarkable 377bhp. To achieve that figure, Lotus had put a lot of work into the 3.6-litre power unit, uprating and strengthening the bottom end, porting the 24-valve cylinder head (from the Carlton GSI), and fitting forged 'slipper' pistons made by MAHLE atop new Lotus-designed connecting rods tied to a counterweighted, forged steel crankshaft. The gearbox was the same 6-speed used in the Corvette ZR-1, the only transmission in GM's parts bin, capable of handling the car's monster torque. AP 'Group C' derived brakes - 4-pot calipers with 330mm ventilated discs at the front and 2-pot at the rear - sat behind specially developed Goodyear tyres. Performance was brisk, to say the least. 0-60mph came up in five seconds, 0-100mph was dispatched in 11.1 seconds and in 1992, Autocar magazine recorded a time of 17 seconds for their 0-100-0 challenge, second best behind an F40, however it's the car's maximum speed of 176mph that will always be quoted by its fans. The car presented here is a 1993 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton #809 (denoted by a unique plaque) of the 950 produced, first registered on 8th March 1993, making it late-production example. According to our vendor, who acquired the car in May 2011 (covering only c4.000 miles since then), some of the car’s early life involved a ten-year stint in storage due to it not being required as a daily-driver. Our vendor, an engineer and Lotus Carlton aficionado, has overseen a significant amount of work to the car, including an engine-out rebuild, a new clutch, timing chain, valve guides, water pump, injectors, whilst the twin turbo unit was overhauled. It also benefits from a new fuel tank and stainless-steel exhaust.Likewise, the exterior has seen the body-kit professionally removed and painted, whilst the bonnet has also been painted to tidy up the stone chips. The interior, although still all original (Grundig in-car entertainment system as fitted to the later cars, rather than the earlier Blaupunkt system) does, in some minor places, look a little worn; the seats and headlining are in very good order though. The car is accompanied by its original model-specific book pack, original tool roll, two keys and its original OEM spec exhaust system.Reports do vary, but the usually reliable ones suggest there are only around 70 Lotus Carltons taxed in the UK – a rather exclusive club!'Sledgehammer' was the word often used to describe the performance of these saloons, but Vauxhall footnoted promotional content with the words 'Very few will be made, very few will understand or appreciate it fully'. More than 30 years later, it's fair to say that we do understand and with climbing values, it's undoubtedly fully appreciated.Specification Make: VAUXHALL Model: LOTUS CARLTON Year: 1993 Chassis Number: SCC000019N1232428 Registration Number: K781 APD Transmission: Manaul Engine Number: 30N60858 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 92500 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black leatherClick here for more details and images

The fifth generation Mercedes-Benz SL, the R230, was manufactured between 2001 and 2008. With all the fun of the open air allied to what is effectively a proper hard-top coupé for those times when the weather was a little unpredictable, the car featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof- a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. Stuffed full of high-tech safety features, its most significant was perhaps Active Body Control, or ABC, which used hydraulic accumulators to regulate and vary the height and stiffness of the suspension. This system gives – again – the best of all worlds; a pillowy soft ride when you want to gently cruise around, and a hard-edged sporting bias to the handling when you want to drive a little harder.A superb example of this timeless classic Mercedes-Benz sports car is presented in probably the best colour combination of silver with grey leather interior. Its first lady owner had the car up until 2020 and it has had two owners since (same family now deceased). The car comes with two sets of keys, sat nav, TV, cruise control, heated electric seats, six disc CD changer, electrically operated panoramic roof, Bluetooth and electric steering column. The space saving spare wheel is unused and all of the 18” upgraded Mercedes-Benz alloys are in mint condition and the car sits on a full set of Goodyear tyres. The car comes with an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2025, a substantial history file with 10 stamps (some Mercedes-Benz and some specialist), book pack and service books are all present. This must be one of the finest examples of this sublime sports car available and with its six-cylinder engine providing smooth power with good all round performance, wonderful leather interior and panoramic glass, this is the one to have! Consigned by James Good. PRESENTED IN BEST COLOUR COMBINATION. FIRST LADY OWNER HAD IT UNTIL 2020 AND ITS HAD 2 OWNERS SINCE ( SAME FAMILY NOW DECEASED)COMES WITH 2 SETS OF KEYS, SAT NAV, TV, CRUISE CONTROL, PANORAMIC ROOF, BLUETOOTH, GOOD HISTORY

A true labour of love, this is one of the finest Capris we have ever presented with multiple show wins attesting to its quality. In 1984, Ford's 2.8 Injection Capri was the subject of a substantial upgrade and became known as the Capri Injection Special. This development used Recaro half leather seats and included a limited-slip differential. Externally, the car could easily be distinguished by the 7-spoke RS wheels and its colour-coded grille and headlamp surround. Packed with performance and character, it paved the way for the Capri 280. Whilst a young man, our vendor used to often pass by his local Ford dealership and dream of the day he would own a brand new Capri Special. Nonetheless, despite much hard work and scrupulous saving he was never in the position to buy one from new, the model discontinued and the dream passed.Inspired by a visit to the NEC Classic Motor show in 2006, he viewed a very special Rosso Red 2.8 Injection on display and that proved to be his inspiration to create the Capri you see here, 'A New Capri!' Having owned eight other Capris subsequently, he set himself the unenviable task of creating the car you see here. He acquired a base car in his colour of choice, Mercury Grey, and then set about building a 'new car', using every new/old stock part he could find. Engaging the renowned Stuart Baldy, owner of Restore A Ford, to do the bodywork, the car was built up over a period of over five years. Stuart himself had recently stated that the car is a complete one off even by his standards. Whilst it might be possible to list the parts fitted, it may be more prudent to suggest that pretty much every part of this remarkable car has been disassembled, prepared by hand and put back together.New/old stock rear spoiler, Goodyear Eagle NCT Tyres, bumpers with over-riders, headlamps and all lights, brake pipes removed, hand-finished and then repainted in olive green, the sunroof refitted with a new/old stock seal that is almost impossible to find. A new rear parcel shelf was acquired at extraordinary cost, a new spare wheel cover created using the same grade chipboard supplied by factory and much more. Incredibly, given the normal discolouration that occurs to the leather interior on these cars, the leather was unstitched completely, replaced with matching hide as needed and the seats re-stuffed as new. Likewise the steering wheel, Aston Martin leather now adorns the wheel and feels just right. In fact, looking around this car today, it feels like we are observing a brand new, reborn 1987 Capri, just as it left the factory. The only tell-tale sign that it's a little different is the headlamp wash wipe fitment on the front bumpers. Only fitted to European cars typically, as the left-hand drive format left space for the fitment of the pumps, our vendor wanted that replication and so cleverly managed to route the system through the chassis rail, completely hidden but absolutely operational. Otherwise, as was 'de rigueur' at the time, the clocks were reset to zero and the car shows minimal usage since, having only been to shows and cosseted ever since. This remarkable transformation took well over five years to complete, but what a result. Were a figure to be calculated as to the build cost, it would be in excess of £70,000 more at today’s prices, but that is not the point. This car has won Best in Show at various events across the years, and it's really no wonder why. Bearing in mind the restoration was completed in early 2015, it's condition today bears witness to the quality of that restoration at the time. It has been stored lovingly in recent times, other cars have joined the Collection and have also been shown successfully so that now the time has come for our client to part ways with the Capri. Coming to sale with a fresh MOT, for our vendor the thought of seeing the car being shown again would be payment in itself. For any fan of the Capri, this is a remarkable reference piece. For any enthusiast who would wish to show their classic, this is an example that could be taken home today and shown tomorrow with an almost guaranteed chance of success.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI 2.8 INJECTION Year: 1987 Chassis Number: WF0CXXGAECGR71260 Registration Number: E969 ROK Transmission: Manual Engine Number: GR71260 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: Grey Half LeatherClick here for more details and images
**Saleroom Notice - Please note during auction set up the bonnet has acquired a small dent that will be rectified by the builder post sale.** Jaguar's legendary E-Type re-imagined by Building the Legend of Coventry and powered by their unique, Quad-Cam, 6.1-litre, 450bhp V12. Shown at the London Concours, Salon Privé, Dubai and Monaco - the sculptural appearance of this unique motor car clearly turns heads wherever it goes whilst offering supercar performance. I’m not sure whether Neville Swailes, CEO of Building the Legend in Coventry, is comfortable being compared to Rob Dickinson at Singer Vehicle Design in the US, but I suspect the comparison is regularly made. Both men are talented engineers who possess an innate sense of style, are passionate about automotive design, consider every detail - no matter how small - and are driven to create the ultimate, definitive versions of their chosen subject matter in a relentless pursuit of excellence. In the case of Singer, it’s 1989 to 1964 Porsche (911) 964s and in this case, Neville Swailes creates stunningly ‘reimagined’ Jaguar Sports Racers and Grand Tourers from the glorious 1960s.Building the Legend (BTL) now offer their so-called ‘1966 Le Mans Prototype’ and ‘E-Type Reimagined’ models, powered by their version of the lost Jaguar V12, known as the ‘Tera.’ Neville’s discovery of the one and only surviving complete Jaguar V-12 Quad Cam that powered the original XJ-13 and his painstaking recreation of an XJ-13 is a fascinating story too long to tell here but suffice to say that his unique Tera V12 is at the heart of everything they do.Swailes and his engineers took the quad-cam V12 concept and developed it further. Much further. Available in 6.1 and 6.8-litre capacities with a choice of Lucas mechanical or electronic fuel-injection, the Tera now produces between 350bhp and 650bhp - far more than Jaguar could ever have imagined. It not only powers their 1966 Le Mans Prototype, inspired by the XJ13, but is installed in BTL’s bespoke E-Types, of which just 24 are planned to be built.Designed to 'recapture and enhance the excitement of a bygone age', each is tailored to the buyer’s specific desires, with a wide range of modern features available, such as speed-sensitive power steering, air conditioning, electric windows, electric parking brake and even parking sensors, USB sockets and satellite navigation. The chassis is uprated with modern suspension and brakes, bigger 16" wheels are fitted and there’s a choice of bodywork, whilst the interior is, of course, totally personalised. Finally, there’s a choice of roadster, coupé or low-drag bodies in hand-formed aluminium or steel. It takes eight to 12 months to build each one and costs in the region of £500,000, depending on the donor car and specification. The fabulous example on offer today started life as a left-hand drive Series 3 FHC before being acquired by BTL and converted to one of their first ‘Reimagined E-Types’. Its current owner, our vendor, lives on the Isle of Man and sadly is experiencing some health issues, meaning he has decided to sell this exciting Jaguar. Viewing is difficult on the IOM so he has entrusted the car to its original builders, BTL, who naturally know it intimately. As each BTL E-Type is different, they have kindly let us have the build details for GAM 612J, although the complete specification is too long to list here.Series 3 bodywork mostly removed and the car converted to right-hand driveBespoke steel bodywork expertly hand-wheeled by artisans in CoventryComprehensively stiffened monocoque and re-engineered independent rear suspension located by solid ‘race-spec’ rose-jointed trailing armsLarger than standard vented discs (rotors) front and rear; large front & rear brakes (6-pot calipers on front; 4-pot on rear and separate custom hand/parking-brake caliper)Rear seating (S3) removed enabling a lengthened flat load area with a ‘Shooting-Brake’ feelFitted with BTL’s unique ‘Tera’ 6.1-litre, quad-cam V12 offering 450bhp and 450ft/lbs. Attractively estimated today at a level that is about half of what it would cost to replicate, your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully digest the unique opportunity that's on offer.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E TYPE SERIES 3 TERA V12Year: 2021Chassis Number: 1S72086BWRegistration Number: GAM 612JTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 7532975ADrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Whiskey HideClick here for more details and images
A superb example in exceptional condition with an extraordinary amount of factory/model development history. The legendary Lotus Carlton is the kind of car that comes along once in a generation. At a time when really fast four-door saloons were the preserve of BMW and Mercedes, this Vauxhall (Opel) derived 'super-saloon' arrived on the scene demolishing the opposition. Oddly, it wasn't its huge performance or masculine good looks that created the most fuss, but the fact that the Daily Mail was so outraged by its stated top speed of 176mph, that it declared it too fast for British roads. Of course, the Lotus Carlton - or Type 104 to Lotus aficionados - was nothing of the sort, and although it shared its major components with a mainstream executive car, its level of development across every aspect of automotive dynamics had resulted in a truly special performance car. 0-60mph came up in five seconds, 0-100 was dispatched in 11.1 seconds and in 1992, Autocar magazine recorded a time of 17 seconds for their 0-100-0 challenge, second best behind an F40, however it's the car's maximum speed of 176mph that will always be quoted by its fans. This beautiful example was one of the last off the line and, according to the Lotus Certificate of Vehicle Provenance, it was designated #0919. It's obvious that it has been treasured and well cared for all its life and has spent the last ten years in correct storage as part of a bespoke Collection. The indicated mileage is 74,301 and its exceptional condition makes it one of the very best to come to market in recent years. A recent check over by a Lotus Specialist only revealed a slightly slow thermostat and it was noted that 'the car drives exceptionally well'.What really sets this Lotus Carlton apart from other examples is that it's accompanied by a fascinating volume of original R&D documents from the Lotus factory at Hethel. Quite by chance, over a motoring-themed evening, the marriage of these and the car was made possible. In addition to the very substantial, still unopened, cellophane-wrapped owner's commemorative book, there are multiple volumes of development journals from the Test and Development Department at Hethel whilst pre-production tests were being carried out. Included are mission notes, current engineering proposal folders covering everything from brakes to charge-cooling systems, engineering reports for High Speed Testing and production schedules, and numerous project reports to be circulated out to the 'who’s-who' within Lotus, Opel, GM and Vauxhall. Also present is a record of a directive sent out to the Dealer Network advising against automatic car washes because the rear track was too wide. It's also supplied with dealer service manuals and the cased TECH 1 dealer diagnostic computer. It would be an understatement to say the history content with this car is comprehensive and surely a unique package.'Sledgehammer' was the word often used to describe the performance of these saloons but Vauxhall footnoted promotional content with the words 'Very few will be made, very few will understand or appreciate it fully'. More than 30 years later, it's fair to say that we do understand and with climbing values, it's undoubtedly fully appreciated.Specification Make: VAUXHALL Model: LOTUS CARLTON Year: 1993 Chassis Number: SCC000019N1286136 Registration Number: L53 XLL Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 30NA0975 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 77000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Registration No: P100BBR Chassis No: WMWRE320X0TK77080 MOT: August 2024 c.350bhp, converted by Brodie Brittain Racing when new• Over £90,000 spent including the car's purchase price • Featured on BBC Top Gear in 2006 • Warranted 6,750 miles from new • Crystal Light Blue with White roof and Recaro leather interior The phrase 'pocket rocket' could well have been coined for 'P100 BBR', an astonishing Mini with no less than 350bhp on tap, which featured on BBC Top Gear in 2006. It was converted when new by renowned go-faster specialists Brodie Brittain Racing (BBR) of David Brodie, highly successful saloon car racer and well connected with Fast Ford performance, with the intention of making it the fastest Cooper S on the planet. According to the vendor, it remains so to this day. Small wonder then that the total cost, including the purchase of the standard car, was in excess of £90,000. The completely reworked engine features: a big valve head; BBR cam; solid tappets; turbocharger in place of the original supercharge; high-flow fuel system; remapped ECU; oil cooler plus high-flow water pump and radiator to keep the temperatures under control; and a big bore exhaust system and stainless steel downpipes to ensure the gases exit with optimum efficiency. So potent an ensemble naturally required related uprates to the running gear and chassis, which included: a limited-slip differential; anti-torque steer suspension; Polybush kit; bigger, ventilated disc brakes, and braided hoses; F1 Goodyear Eagle tyres. This monster of a Mini is equipped with a 'Works' body kit and finished in the strident combination of Crystal Light Blue teamed with a White roof, alloy wheels and mirror casings. The full Recaro interior is trimmed in Dark Blue hide complemented by Mid Blue carpets. The mileage covered to date is under a mere 6,750 warranted miles from new, and the Cooper S comes complete with the suitably apt registration 'P100 BBR' plus its original service record and owners' handbook, and is considered by the vendor to have 'excellent' interior trim, 'very good' bodywork, engine, electrical equipment, and six-speed manual transmission, and 'good' paintwork. Purchasers of BMW Minis have been encouraged to customise them from day one, but this breathtaking example arguably takes the idea to a whole new level!
