Quentin Bell (British 1910-1996) for the Fulham Pottery, a pottery vase, moulded with a double portrait bust of a man and woman, initialled QB, and signed to base, 30.5cm highCondition Report: Under fluorescent light one can see areas of over painting, possibly oil, and there appear to be paint losses. These areas are noticeable over both faces and there appears to be an un-eveness in the contours of the face. The body of the vessel appears to be fully vitrified and does not appear to have been cracked or repaired. Potentially this is a mixed media piece or someone has at some point enriched the surface with oil paint. Viewing is highly recommended before bidding.
† VICKY WALTON; a tin glazed earthenware bowl with polychrome decoration, painted VW mark, diameter 20cm, and a large bowl covered in pale yellow glaze with iron decoration by a different maker, diameter 38.5cm (2).Walton worked for many years under the tuition of Quentin Bell at Fulham Pottery and became the first curator at Charleston House in the early 1980s. Much of her ceramic work is in the Charleston collection. Condition Report: Large bowl has several rim and body chips and stilt marks/glaze misses to the well, otherwise appears good with no further signs of faults, damage or restorations.

A Constance Spry (1886-1960) for Fulham Pottery twin handled earthenware mantel vase c.1935, pale Devon clay fired to light cream and unglazed to exterior, clear glazed within. Impressed signature mark "Constance Spry Flower Decorations" to base. Note: For a vase of identical form see front cover of original "Constance Spry Vases" catalogue. Measures 48.5 cm wide by 21 cm high by 16 cm deep. Condition: Good condition, general dirtiness and spotting. Would benefit from gentle cleaning.
A large Fulham stoneware flagon or serving bottle, mid 19th century, of four gallon size, impressed inscription '335 George Dady Norwich' beneath the spout, the handle impressed with a 4, beneath that 'Fulham Stone Pottery Glazed Inside', 46cm.Provenance: formerly the Jonathan Horne Collection.George Dady was landlord of The Walnut Tree Shades pub in Norwich, and is listed as a wine and spirit merchant in directories of the 1850s. He died in a suspected suicide in 1859 at the age of 27, having been found drowned in a cistern after experiencing financial worries. His wife took over the pub but was killed the following year in a gunpowder explosion. Their two young children were rescued from the blast by a passing sailor and were cared for by their grandparents before being transferred to a London orphanage in 1865.

Constance Spry (British, 1886-1960) for Fulham Pottery A mantel vase, unglazed buff earthenware, elongated oval part form with twin loop handles, on a shaped pedestal foot, white glazed interior, impressed Constance Spry facsimile signature (rubbed), 8¼ x 18½ inches (21cm high by 47cm long). * Firing cracks to underside of stem. Some surface dirt and debris. The lower section of one handle has been broken off and glued back into place.
