A George III mahogany revolving circular drum library table with an inset green leather insert above a frieze fitted with four faux and four actual drawers. the whole on a quadrupedal base of moulded sabre legs with brass lion's paw castors.106 cm diameter x 72 cm overall height, 58 cm knee clearance.The leather is stained but is intact, the bordering crossbanding has some patches and some slight lifting veneer.The edge moulding is cross-grained veneer and this has a few cracks.The drawer handles are replacements, the locks look as if they are original but no key is present.The top is traditionally fixed with a peg located at the top of the central column, which allows it to rotate.Some repairs and damage to the cockbeadingThe base is in good order without repair, cracks or splits.

A KALIGHAT PAINTING OF SHIVA ON HIS VAHANA, NANDI THE BULL Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal, Eastern India, ca. 1880 - 1920Opaque pigments on stained, wove paper, the vertical composition depicting the Hindu God Shiva seated on his vahana (vehicle), Nandi, the bull, wearing a tiger skin around his waist and a necklace of severed heads on his chest, holding a stylised trisula (trident) on one hand, and his iconic damaru drum on the latter, the rear leg of Nandi also marked with the god's trident symbol, set against an empty central field encased within a single black line, mounted, glazed and framed.45cm x 33cm including the frame 45cm x 33cm including the frame Qty: 1
A LOUIS XVI MARBLE AND ORMOLU MANTEL CLOCK BY JEAN SANGUINEDE (PARIS, LATE 18TH CENTURY) the two train movement with outside count wheel, silk 'tic tac' escarpment and striking on a bell, the 14cm enamel dial signed 'Sanguinede Paris' and 'Coteau', with Roman numerals at the hour marker, Arabic numerals at the quarter hours and Arabic numerals for the date dial, with gilt chased and pierced hands, the drum case is surmounted by an eagle cresting and flanked by two Sèvres style soft past figures after Louis-Simon Boizot's (1743-1809) “L’Étude”, the male 'Philosopher' and the female 'Learning', a panel beneath in bas relief depicting a sacrifice to Cupid in the manner of Claude Michel, called Clodion (1738-1814), the Carrera marble base inset with a central pierced ormolu frieze of opposing sphinx and two further classical masks, on turned and leaf cast bun feet, 54cm high x 60cm wide x 20cm deepProvenance: The Digby family.Jean Sanguinede is recorded in Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the world by G. H. Baille. It is noted he was active in Paris between 1777 and 1789. The dial is also signed by Joseph Coteau (1740-1801), one of the most important émailleurs of this period, who executed enamelled dials and decorative plaques for clocks of significance. The mounted figures are after those by Louis-Simon Boizot, sculpteur du roi, who became Director of Sculpture at Sèvres in 1773 until his death in 1809. He is renowned for producing some of the firm's most important recorded works whilst working against a backdrop of turmoil and upheaval. A similar clock of the same period also mounted with Sèvres soft paste figures resides in the Royal Collection, formerly at Carlton House in the Prince of Wales's Dressing Room, RCIN 30118.

A French green-stained tortoiseshell, ebonised and gilt-brass mantel clock by Henri Marc of Paris - second half 19th century, the signed, 11 cm white Roman dial fronting a twin train Japy Freres movement, no. 28634, further signed by Henri Marc, with outside countwheel strike, half-hour striking on a bell, in a drum case atop an architectural base with Corinthian columns and a bevelled glass front with visible enamelled pendulum, 42.25 cm high.
**Michael (Mick) Casson, OBE (British, 1925-2003): a large studio pottery vase - drum form on a tall, narrow cylindrical foot, salt glazed in a treacle coloured glaze with incised 'treeline' landscape decoration above vertical bands, the interior in a streaked grey-green glaze, impressed maker's seal mark to foot, 25.5cm high. **(Subject to ARR)* In good condition, with no faults.
AN ORMOLU PENDULE D'OFFICER LATE 19TH CENTURY The eight-day timepiece movement with white enamel Roman numeral dial mounted in a drum case supported on flanking winged sphinges and on diapered plinth base 17.5cm high Together with an associated garniture of two scent bottles, each with an Egyptian mask above the cut glass body and gilt metal base, 18cm high Condition Report: Movement is fully wound but is presently not running hence requires attention - most likely to the platform escapement. The movement and dial are not original to the case (are late 19th century) although the hands are probably from the original movement. The dial has a light hairline crack through 10 o'clock. The case is in good original condition although is lacking one securing screw for the rear bezel and has overall light rubbing and oxidation to the mounts. The side pieces are scent bottles late 'matched' to the timepiece. The glass of each is free form noticeable cracks but has chipping to the tips of the cut decoration and some staining/fogging to the interiors. One mummiform head caps is fixed in position and the base of the same bottle has a loose section to the gilt platform. The other bottle has removable mummiform head to reveal a glass stopper which is seized tight in the neck. The mounts are generally a little rubbed/oxidised.There is no winding key present. A GILT BRONZE AND WHITE MARBLE CLOCK GARNITURE OR GARNITURE DE CHEMINEE IN LOUIS XVI-STYLE LATE 19TH CENTURY, ETIENNE MAXANT, PARIS The eight-day bell striking movement with maker's roundel to the backplate and numbered 20332, the white enamel Roman numeral dial with Arabic five minutes to the outer track inscribed Boin Taburet A Paris, the case mounted with a putto examining a scroll, the drum movement further flanked by laurel leaves, book, and globe, on a white marble plinth base and gilt metal feet, the case serial numbered 44576 34.5cm high The garniture formed of further putti holding twin candle sconces with fruiting laurel stems above conforming bases and feet, serial numbered 44577 and 44578 respectively, 36cm high Condition Report: Movement is in relatively clean working condition however a gentle clean/service is probably advisable. The dial is free from visible damage/defects. The case is in very good original condition with faults limited to a few small historic edge chips to the marble and overall light to moderate oxidation/mellowing to the gilding. Y A SWISS ROSEWOOD AND INLAID MUSICAL BOX LATE 19TH CENTURY, RETAILED BY IMHOF & MUKLE Playing a choice of eight airs via a pinned brass cylinder and tuned steel combs, the movement driven by a single wound spring drum mounted on a gilt iron bed beneath a hinged glass internal cover, marked for the retailer, and with selection levers to the side, the lid with applied printed and hand written tune sheet serial numbered 39967, the case of typical rectangular form with marquetry inlaid lid 24cm high, 78cm wide, 36cm deep Condition Report: The mechanism will wind and play; the stop/start and repeat/change levers appear operational. The cylinder wheel (applied to the cylinder arbor) has three worn teeth hence drive will 'skip' over these when running. The comb is missing three teeth and the crank handle endpiece is presently detached. The tune sheet is present but wrinkled/worn. The exterior of the case has water staining and fading to the top which also has a couple of small veneer chips/losses. The banding to the front and sides has losses mostly to the front right-hand edge. The ebonised mouldings are rubbed and the key escutcheon is missing.There is no key for the lock present. AN EMPIRE STYLE ORMOLU MANTEL TIMEPIECE CIRCA 1840 With small drum movement, signed PICKARD A PARIS 1565, and with Roman Numeral dial, the case formed as a winged cherub atop on oval base 28cm high Now under an associated Perspex rectangular case and giltwood base 32cm high overall Condition Report: Movement is in relatively clean working condition however there is no pendulum present. The dial has rubbing to the numerals and is slightly muted in colour compared to the case but is in good original condition. The case has some slight oxidation mostly to the rear and a mark (scratch) to the base next to the figures left foot from the figure pivoting at that point. The Perspex cover and base are modern with some discoloration to the plastic.Timepiece does not have a pendulum or winding key. Condition Report Disclaimer

Mid 20th Century inclined plane clock by Dent, with original box and instructions (for restoration), 71.5cm wideThe clock is not currently running. It appears to have suffered water damage which has caused verdigris to build up on the drum suggesting that it has been wet or damp for some time. We have not inspected it internally.
A Shan States bronze rain drum, the concentric ring decorated top mounted with stylised frogs, sides with loop handles and raised ring decoration, 66cm diameter, 57cm high This type of drum which ultimately derives from the much earlier Dong Son type (see lot 324) was traditionally made in the Shan states for the Karen people. The drum would be beaten during a ritual to encourage rainfall to enable the harvest. The Karen are a major ethnic group in Burma with origins in Yunnan province in China. See Richard M. Ca. AD 619 - 906.A Tang dynasty terracotta female musician. She depicted in a seated position, playing a double sided drum. Her hair is neatly combed into a coiffure consisting of a high topknot and is dressed in a long brown robe, topped with a cropped red overcoat. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla.
