Shaw (Christopher, binder).- Weissenborn (Hellmuth) Country Scenes: I [& II], together 2 vol. in 1, each one of 250 copies, wood-engravings by Weissenborn, bound in green goatskin elaborately tooled in gilt, by Christopher Shaw, covers with all-over design of alternating rows of flowers and triangles of 3 small dots all within wavy leafy border in gilt, spine with red morocco label titled in gilt down spine within wavy leafy border, green pastepaper endpapers featuring country flora and fauna, turn-ins with wavy leafy strands in gilt, signed at foot of rear pastedown, g.e., preserved in modern green cloth drop-back box, c.145 x 110mm., [Risbury], Whittington Press, 2001 § Webb (Brian) Think of it as a Poster, one of 250 copies, 17 tipped-in postage stamps, bound in crimson goatskin with 3 small rectangular windows cut out from each cover to reveal patterned paper of stamps below, ruled in blind and with small dots of onlaid coloured goatskin or tooled in gilt or silver, crimson suede doublures, rear doublure with two rows of small gilt dots, c.120 x 75mm., preserved in cloth drop-backed box with two small paper onlays to lid, Upper Denby, Fleece Press, 2010, 8vo et infra (2)*** Christopher Shaw was elected a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders in 2004, having trained at Guildford College of Technology.
