A blue and white Davenport plate which was formerly the property of John Lennon. It was part of the furnishings at Lennon’s Kenwood home in Weybridge, Surrey. The plate measures 27cm (10.5 inches) in diameter. The condition is very good plus. Provenance: the plate was given to Ken and Margaret Brunt, assistants to John Lennon and haulage contractors for The Beatles between 1967 and 1970. It is accompanied by a letter from the Brunt family confirming provenance.

A cabinet maker made Walnut Davenport of very high quality, the curved lid lifting to reveal an interior with a pair of drawers and a pull-out section with a hinged gold tooled leather writing slope flanked by a pen tray and inkwell recesses. A secret latch reveals a rise and fall section with three drawers flanked either side by a pair of pigeonholes, whilst to the right hand side of the base is a flight of four drawers with turned wood knob handles. There is a pair of elegant scroll legs to the front with carved flower blooms and the whole is raised on turned compressed bun feet, 21 5/8'' wide x 22 3/4'' deep (min) 29 1/2''(max) x 35 5/8'' high (min) 42 5/8''(max).
