Please read our terms and conditions With V5C, HPI clear AA badge & St Christopher on dash will be retained (shown in photos) View video Information from the owner: General History up to 2024 This car was bought new in November 1933 by my father, then a serving Flying Officer with the RAF who had just returned from a 3 year posting with No 27 Squadron in the North Western Frontier region of India (now the Pakistan/Afghanistan border areas) flying the Westland Wapiti” 2 seater Bomber/Army support aircraft and had saved enough to pay the £200 for his new J2 At the time he was based at RAF Henlow and during the 6 month guarantee period there was a good bit of correspondence between him and the MG company, I have copies of the Abingdon responses from which it seems that he had problems with performance 'maximum speed only 68 mph' and other small matters including vibration. It seems that in April 1934 a new gearbox and remote were fitted plus new front engine bearings etc. These seem to have been dealt with promptly and efficiently. Mileage by then was over 4,000 Sometime in 1934 father and friend took the car on a long tour into Southern Germany and there are several photos taken on that trip including loading (or unloading) onto channel ferry, just guessing Newhaven/Dieppe The next report is it taking part in the Great West Motor Club’s London to Bournemouth trials at the end of March 1935 and I have a photo of it taken at the Bovington Camp section. As father married later in April that year it seems unlikely that he was the entrant so he must have traded it in by then for the 2 Litre Lagonda he next had. The only clue as to its location after 1935 is a repair plate on the radiator header tank by Sercks of Maidstone, Kent and a tax disc issued by London C C expiring end of June 1938. The next phase in the story is that in 1937 or 1938 the car was bought by a young Lincolnshire man, Colin Muncaster. I was able to contact the widow of Colin’s brother, Ray, and she (Phyllis) was able to tell me quite a lot and the rest of the history comes from her and another name she mentioned, Mike Hewson, who lived very near the Muncasters in Horncastle. Mike Hewson’s father was with Colin when he bought the car and they took it to the British Grand Prix held at Donington Park in 1937 or 38. Colin was keen on some competition driving and had the car worked on by the well known MG fettler Harry Lester. The engine had a Laystall crank fitted, cylinder head modified with polished ports enlarged to 1 1/8 inch dia and bigger 1 1/8 inch carburetters fitted. The brakes were converted to hydraulic using components from a Wolseley Hornet with 9 inch drums. Ignition was by 'Scintilla' magneto. Phyllis told me that Colin and Ray were coming home from the pub when they ran off the road near Horncastle and Ray, being thrown forward, lost his front teeth on the dashboard. She asked if the marks were still there on the aluminium panel. I looked and indeed they were and still are! I imagine this was the cause of the bent chassis discovered during restoration. Apparently during the war Colin bought another MG (understood to be a J1 salonette) to use that engine to 'save' the original 'good' engine until war was over, but the car was taxed for a while in 1941 and 1943. Colin was born in 1914 but for some reason wasn’t called up for military service. He had a Garage business and after the war worked for the Council. I have photocopies of ALX 934 taken from late 1930’s on some showing his Hill Climb runs and trophies won, all presumably in the Lincolnshire general area up to about 1952 when by then it was fitted with 16 inch rear wheels. The 19 inch wheels went back on for everyday use until 1955 when it was pushed into an open ended Nissen hut until bought by Harry Dickinson of Bucknall, Lincs, in 1978 where it sat unused for another 27 years until I bought it from Harry’s widow. Before that a chance conversation with another J2 owner at a car show in 2005 led to the discovery that father’s old car still existed and was for sale. I went up to Lincolnshire to see it; very much as I would have expected after so long unused although the engine had been started and run occasionally. It seemed complete and original and there was a large amount of spare parts included. My offer was accepted and we hauled it back to Suffolk a week or so later in July. It soon became apparent that it needed much more than a tidy up and it looked like a total strip down was needed, everything that could wear was worn and the woodworm had consumed most of the plywood trim. The first thing to do was to drain and refill the engine oil, water in radiator, connect to a battery and take a fuel feed from a petrol can. Starter pushed, and engine started and ran strongly, still on its magneto, so this was encouraging. So began over 2 years of work whenever I was able. The most useful tool was the angle grinder to cut off all the rusted up nuts and bolts and with body off I could see what had to be done. The body and chassis went up to David Wall in Wroxham where he repaired and replaced any damaged and rotten timber and re panelled in steel or aluminium where necessary. The chassis was straightened and new stubs welded on the rear chassis cross members to take the spring trunnions. Other steel fittings, plates, brackets, stainless battery box etc. were made up for me by the people at the metal fabricators whom I then worked for. A trip to Sports and Vintage in Shrewsbury supplied me with all the other bits and pieces I thought I needed as well as relining the clutch plate. This was followed by a trip to Jones Springs to recondition the springs. This lot must be collected by 12.30pm on Friday 25th October. Registration No: WAM 731K Chassis No: GHN5252748G MOT: May 2025‘Works-style replica’ for use in classic tours and track eventsSubject to an extensive 3- year restoration by A J RestorationsGas flowed Oselli head, Piper 717 cam, a balanced crank, rods, flywheel and Weber 45Moss Independent front suspension set-up and 15” Minilite style wheels PLEASE NOTE: The windscreen on this lot has recently cracked. The MG is booked in for a replacement windscreen on Thursday. If the successful buyer wanted to collect the MG from the vendor when the windscreen has been replaced this can be arranged or alternatively the vendor will look to arrange the appointment closer to the buyer’s location. Introduced in 1962, the MG B Roadster enjoyed an eighteen-year production run. With nicely balanced handling and a good turn of speed, it merited the old MG marketing slogan 'Safety Fast'. Based around a monocoque chassis featuring independent coil-sprung front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, its 1798cc 'B' series four-cylinder engine was allied to a four-speed manual transmission. Capable of over 100mph, the provision of front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering greatly aided control. The MkII (’GHN5’ chassis numbers from 1969 onwards) MG B, had a 5 main bearing engine with alternator, negative earth and, at last, received a new gearbox with synchromesh on all four forward speeds.Finished in Tartan Red with White Works style hardtop which is fitted with a rare Minivan roof vent 'WAM 731K' was bought by the vendor in 2001 and from 2003 to 2006 was subject to an extensive 3-year restoration by A J Restorations of Shaftesbury. All external panels (doors, bonnet, boot and front wings) were replaced and front and rear Sebring valances were fitted. The remit was to restore and replicate the 1965 Works MGB Race cars used at Le Mans. The impressive specification includes; Gas flowed Oselli head, Piper 717 cam, a balanced crank, rods, flywheel and a Weber 45 carburettor which produced 130bhp on Sigma’s rolling road in Gillingham. In 2001 the whole front suspension was replaced with a Moss Independent front suspension set-up and all the suspension and brake components were renewed including the discs, uprights, and hubs at a cost of some £3,000.We are told the full roll cage took a week to adapt and fit properly and four new 15” Minilite wheels, tyres, racing seats and harnesses were all installed. In total c.£25,000 has been spent. A regular attendee to Goodwood, Le Mans Classic, Silverstone Classic (on the MG Owners club stand), we are informed it has not been raced, although it has done a couple of track days at Castle Combe. The MG further benefits from trips to AJ Restorations every May, for a service and MOT. For more information, please contact: John Markey john.markey@handh.co.uk 01428 607899

It has a 19.5 inch frame (centre of crank to the top of seat post) with 26-inch wheels, front and rear lights, detachable front basket along with rear rack and stand, integral rear wheel lock, pump, a Brooks sprung saddle, and Sturmey Archer drum brakes and gearing.
A crank wound Swiss (Bells insight) cylinder music box, late 19th century, probably playing 8 airs, (air sheet) missing) on three bells with a distinctive gilt dove hammer, in an amboyna and tulipwood banded case. on bracket feet. 46 cm x 26 cm x 20 cm high The collection of the late Robert HicksonRobert was a noted London antique dealer for over 40 years. Robert started in the Silver departments in Garrards in London at the age of 15 and by the age of 20 he had risen to manage Brompton Gallery in Knightsbridge. Robert had a long and successful career within the antique trade and had a particular passion for Silver and antique Eccentricities, his passion and connoisseurship are reflected in his collection. The case is in good structural order but does have the usual slight bowing of the cover and some elements of minor veneer chips but on the whole, the damage is purely cosmetic., note: no cabinet key is present or paper Air sheet. The movement winds on the crank with moderate resistance, the cylinder runs with a little reluctance, I think a clean and re-oil would probably helpPlease note the box on investigation plays 8 Airs NOT 10 AirsThe Air indicator seems to index the corresponding tunes and all of the hammers seem to coordinate as expected, the comb has the 19th tooth tip from the left hand side missing, also the first tooth on the left seems to be a repair, and the movement has some slight surface corrosion and is evident below the silvering of the register of airs but this is again cosmetic. The above information is of course a guide because any mechanical device of this age will have slight faults and problems, but I have tried to cover them in my condition report.
Of maritime interest. A George III silver mug. Lewis Herne & Francis Butty,London, c.1760. Of baluster form, the body chased and repousse decorated with flowers and scrolls to a double scroll handle with foliate thumbpiece, the central cartouche later engraved 'Presented to Captn. Chas. Scott Knight by a few friends as a token of respect to commemorate the 1st voyage of the steam ship London from Newhaven, Sussex to Jersey, Novr. 12. 1853', 12.7cm high, approx. weight 13.4oztFootnotes: The engraving on this mug indicates that it was presented to Charles Scott Knight, who captained the Steamship London on its maiden voyage from Newhaven to Jersey in 1853. Little more is known of Captain Scott Knight, but the tragic tale of the SS London is notorious, for it sank on 12th January 1866, drowning 220 passengers and earning the undesirable label of a ‘coffin ship’.Coffin ships were vessels that had been overinsured and were therefore worth more to their owners sunk than afloat. The SS London sank on 12th January 1866, three days after leaving London for Melbourne under the captaincy of John Martin. It was later said that a seaman watching her pass Purfleet said: "It'll be her last voyage…she is too low down in the water, she'll never rise to a stiff sea." This proved all too accurate. It later transpired that the ship had been overloaded with 345 tonnes of railway iron and 50 tonnes of coal, the latter of which was stored above deck. When the storm hit, this cargo moved and blocked the scupper holes so that the waves washing over the deck were prevented from draining off. A message in a bottle found following the sinking read: "Adieu, father, brothers and sisters, and my dear Edith. Steamer London, Bay of Biscay. Ship too heavily laden for its size, and too crank. Windows stove in. Water coming in everywhere. God bless my poor orphans. Storm not too violent for a ship in good condition.’The sinking of the SS London played a major role in reforming shipping by raising awareness of the lack of maritime safety regulations and the dangerous conditions on ships overloaded by unscrupulous ship owners.

Registration - TLJ 809RChassis No. - WH8134DLM.O.T. - TBCOdometer - 780This unique example of Triumph’s Dolomite sports saloon has been extensively modified for the track, and is offered at no reserve. Presented in period ‘Leyland Cars’ decals over white bodywork, ‘TLJ 809R’ has had its original 1,296cc engine stripped out, and replaced with a turbo-charged Ford Cosworth 2.9-litre BOA V6, matched to a five-speed gearbox from a Mazda RX8. Changes to the bodywork include a bonnet bulge to accommodate the engine, revised grille and front bumper to fit the intercooler and side exhausts, as well as Superlite alloy wheels added. Inside, the interior is remarkable original considering the changes to the powertrain, with a half roll-cage added, but period correct leather seats, wood trimmed dashboard, and normal door cards retained. The rear seats have been sacrificed to fit the roll-cage however.Changes don’t simply extend to replacing the engine, as the vendor has fitted a lightened crank and flywheel, forged pistons and rods, and a steel head gasket. Every line is braided for added strength, and there’s a racing spec fuel cell, digital air flow gauge, fibre-glass bonnet and boot lid, Wilwood brakes, coilover springs, and super soft tyres. Because of the work carried out, the odometer displays only 780 indicated miles. The vendor describes the paintwork to be in ‘average’ condition, though the transmission, bodywork, and interior are rated ‘good’, and the engine and electrics are considered ‘excellent’.Ready-to-run track carHighly modified Triumph DolomiteOffered at no reserveTriumph’s Dolomite compact four-door saloon was launched in 1972, replacing the Triumph 1500, itself was a development of the 1300. Unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1971, production started more than a year later, and the Dolomite went up against the likes of BMW’s 2002 and Ford Cortina. Powered by a 1,854cc straight four at launch, a more powerful Dolomite Sprint was launched a year later, with a 2.0-litre engine, and by 1976 the range had grown to include a 1300, 1500, 1500HL, 1850HL, and Sprint. Triumph raced and rallied the Dolomite to some success, taking the British Saloon Car Championship drivers and manufacturers titles in 1975 and 1974 respectively. Production continued until 1980, after more than 200,000 Dolomites had been made.
1966 Jaguar Mark II 2.4 Saloon Registration Number: JWY 606D Chassis Number: 119754DN Recorded Mileage: c.41,000 miles - Recent spend of c.£2,000 in additional maintenance - Subject of comprehensive restoration - South African resident from new until 2005 Jaguar’s Mk2 is held as one of several seminal vehicles produced by the Midlands giant. So important was it that it in fact caused its 2.4-litre and 3.4-litre predecessors to be renamed posthumously, as the Mk1. The ‘1 set the template for the ‘2, which followed a similar formula of a handsome, well proportioned, and equally well-constructed beast allied to a lovely fruity engine and tempting asking price. Arriving in 1959 the Mk2 saw any residual doughtiness disappear, replaced instead – thanks to a larger glass area, wider rear tack, fog lamps, and a new grille – with a thoroughly rakish sporting aesthetic. Factor in all-wheel disc brakes and 2483cc, 3442cc or 3781cc engines, and it had undoubted go (and slow) to match the show. A 1966 model year car, ‘JWY 606D’ was ordered in Opalescent Maroon with a full red leather interior, tan roof lining, red carpets, and manual transmission with overdrive. The Jaguar was destined for sunny South Africa, staying there until the early 2000s, at which point it returned to be restored by a UK-based Jaguar specialist. The rust-free body was stripped, prepared and refinished as original, then thoroughly wax-oyled. The leather was treated and new carpets, roof lining and door cards fitted. All woodwork has been refurbished along with the instrument dials. The engine was rebuilt with a reground crank, replacement bearings and gaskets, new pistons, camshafts, valves, valve seats and shims, also new water and oil pumps. The gearbox and rear axle were overhauled with a new flywheel and clutch, and a stainless exhaust system fitted. The suspension was rebuilt with new springs, steering arms, swing arms, bushes and anti-roll bar. The brakes were refurbished with new calipers, brake lines, brake discs and pads were fitted. As a nod to more creature comforts, a period style Bluetooth radio provides the soundtrack, whilst an under-bonnet immobiliser offers the next owner a little added comfort. In current ownership a further c. £2,000 has been invested with a Bristol-based Jaguar specialist. The fuel pump, filter and pipes have been replaced, the carburettors stripped, overhauled and tuned. The braking system has been improved with a new brake servo, brake master cylinder, and copper brake pipes as required. The electrical system now features a new alternator, belt, battery, battery leads, isolator switch, and relays. The heating system has replacement heater pipes and hoses, the suspension has new rubbers to the front, the overdrive solenoid replaced, a new fuel tank sender unit fitted, also new nylon bushes to gear linkage and a replacement clutch cylinder fitted. We are told all instruments work, the engine shows good oil pressure with no oil leaks, the tyres are in good order. A very attractive restored and well sorted example, this Mark II is complete with UK V5C and history file outlining restoration and recent works.
