He was a mainstay for nearly three decades, employed as both trainer and groundsman under Willie Maley from 1912 to the late 1930s, he worked alongside many legendary figures including Patsy Gallacher, Jimmy McGrory, Jimmy Delaney, Alec McNair and Jimmy McMenemy, amongst many others. His distinctive moustache can still be spotted in many team photographs from the period. His story, much like this medal, is an interesting one.
