A Castle Hedingham blue and cream glazed pottery candlestick, stamped CASTLE HEDINGHAM, with pad mark to base, 27cm high, together with a small blue glazed urn, incised EWB, 11cm high (2)Vase has crazing within the glaze, both the rim of the foot and lip of the bowl are worn and chipped around the edges. Candlestick is dirty, with various small chips around the edges. It is roughly made, so not too noticeable.

A Castle Hedingham pottery pastille burner, modelled as Mariah Martens Cottage, impressed CASTLE HEDINGHAM, 9cm high, together with a three handled cup, incised Hedingham no 45, with pad mark to base and four various small vases (6). Mariah Martens became a legendary figure in the 19th century after she was murdered by her lover Willam Corder in 1827 at Red Barn Farm in Polstead. This episode became known as The Red Barn Murder and drew large crowds of tourists to the area, following the public execution by hanging of Willam Corder in 1828 in Bury St Edmunds, which was attended by thousands of spectators

Twin handled cup - 4cm flat chip to foot and glued chip to rim. Brown jug - small chips to foot and rim and losses to some of the applied applied circles. Brown cup - losses to some of the tips of flowers. Glaze is poor quality of manufacture. All are dirty.
A Castle Hedingham pottery 'The Essex Jug', dated 1891, decorated in relief with roundels depicting Grecian scenes and applied with crests and shields, in buff colours on a mottled brown ground, incised to the foot and signed to the base Edward Bingham, Castle Hedingham, with castle pad mark, 35cm high.This collection is the product of over twenty years of collecting amassed by a local private collector. As a keen local historian she was involved in the Halstead and District Local History Society and co-author of various local historical publications. As such she became attracted to the distinctive style and locality of this pottery. The collection includes a diverse selection of shapes and designs that were produced by this rather eccentric pottery in Essex. Having recently downsized, she felt it was time to let the collection pass on to the next generation. Comprising almost seventy pieces, it would appear that this is the largest collection of wares of Castle Hedingham Pottery by Edward Bingham to be offered on the market at auction for a number of years.Overall condition appears to be ok, with only tiny chips to the rim and foot, which are not easy to spot. Dirty.
