After Edouard Drouot, a pair of bronze barking dog bookends, signed E. Drouot, raised on marble bases, 20cm high. Condition:There is a bright white dust/residue sitting in the crevices of one bookend i.e. in the facial features of the dog.The green felt on the base of one booked is peeling away, revealing the base metal underneath.

A Pair of Brown Patinated Bronze Bookends of Stepped Form, Meiji Period, modelled with adult and juvenile elephants, one signed "Hoshu", with bone tusks, 5.75ins (14.6cm) and 6ins (15.2cm) highBoth larger elephants are slightly loose. The right hand bookend - the larger elephant has chipped tusks with one being completely lost. Very light scratch to left hand bookend just below small elephant measuring approximately 1.5cm. Very small ding to lower part of this bookend. Right hand bookend with three very small dings, two to the front, one to the right side.

Bookends, wood carving showing an elephant and another animal mounted on two wooden plinths and laid onto mushroom shaped plywood, some clear adhesive visible at feet of elephant, notes in pencil to verso of elephant 'Morris Cox, bookend, no trace of a pair, AT', some minor chips to plywood base, 15.5 cm high, together with a wood carving of a voluptuous female figure, 27 cm long QTY: (3)NOTE:Provenance: From the family of Alan Tucker (1933-2017), Stroud bookseller and poet, and co-author of Morris Cox and the Gogmagog Press (1991).Scarce, there are no known records of Cox's sculptures coming up for auction. In a letter to Corrie Guyt, sent on the 29th September 1975, and published in Gogmagog 'Between 1948-50 I did about 25 small sculptures in wood...Most of these sold readily although I was not anxious to sell them...The few I have kept have a special meaning for me and I would not like to part with them' page 82.Morris Cox was a printer, poet, printmaker, painter and puppeteer. At the age of 13 he recieved a scholarship to West Ham School of Art where he studied for 6 years. In 1957 he set up Gogmagog Press resolving to print his own work in his own way. Cox painted in oil and watercolour for over 60 years. In 1994 an exhibition of his work was held at the Victoria & Albert Museum, to celebrate the acquisition of Cox's personal archive of Gogmagog books and early colour prints.
