Edward Brian Seago RBA, ARWS, RWS (1910-1974) Watercolour drawing “Cattle on a Marsh”, signed, with Mandell's Gallery label verso and receipt dated 1986, 27cm x 36cm From the collection of the late Maurice Costley Edward Seago was born in Norwich, a self taught artist who is renowned for his portrayal of East Anglian scenes. Working in both watercolour and oil, his paintings are atmospheric and moody in an impressionistic and post-impressionistic style. During WWII he joined the army and worked on developing camouflage. He was extremely popular during his life time, exhibiting at some of London’s top galleries which included P & D Colnaghi where a queue would form along Bond Street to purchase one of his pictures. During his later career he travelled to paint with various patrons, to Venice, Gambia and to remote areas such as the Antarctic. His most famous patron was Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and many of his works are in the Royal Collection. Condition ReportOverall in good order. The paper is undulating slightly and does not sit flat, there are some small areas of faint brown discolouration to the sky, the mount has discoloured slightly. Uninspected out of frame.

Condition ReportOverall in good order. Some minor glaze scratching to underside of base and minute surface wear overall. No restoration or damage apparent when inspected under UV light.
Two vintage top hats, one with the royal crest stamped inside and the other labelled Scott & Co hatters to HM the King, Old Bond Street Piccadilly within a vintage top hat box, both 20cm x 16cm inside, approx. 15-16cm tall.Condition ReportBoth have some wear to them, particularly to the top of the hats. One has significant wear around the top rim.
An accounts book from S Luckin & Sons of GREAT DUNMOW, 1918-1925. 434 double-sided ruled pages, 409 of which entered with transactions, including: dates, quantities, weights, product & price. Their client list includes: Mrs. Bond, Clock House; Lady Fane, Brook End; Mrs. E. J. Foakes; Lady Gordon Lennox, POW Camp Guards; Mrs. E B Trow, Grammar School; Lady Warwick, Pantry account, fruit account; Cat fish, Easton Lodge Kitchen; H. G. Wells. [S Luckin & Sons were fishmongers & fruiterers in Great Dunmow, Essex. Their principal customer appears to have been The Countess of Warwick at Easton Lodge. There are a number of accounts listed: Pantry Account; Easton Lodge Kitchen; Easton Lodge Cat Fish; Lady Warwick fruit account. There had been a disastrous fire in the house in 1918, by repute caused by one of her pet monkeys. The volume measures: 42 x 19 x4.5cm.
