A 17th century and later oak full tester bedstead with moulded cornice and stop fluted acanthus carved columns, head and foot boards inset with foliate scroll carved panels within guilloche borders, on turned front feet and squared back stile feet, 160cm wide, 212cm long, 204cm high This bed looks to have been reconstructed using some old panelling, but is predominantly 20th century, overall of a rich polished dark blackish brown tone, frame is solid but some attention to the join bolts is required.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place. A Mahogany 4ft 6ins Bedstead of Georgian Design with Shaped Head and Footboards, on turned and reeded columns with pineapple terminals, on turned feet and castorsThis item is 57ins wide x 83ins long x 63.5ins high. Board - general light scattered scratching and darker staining to the wooden components. The fluted uprights are slightly rubbed with some general edge knocks and the same for the stretchers. Some minor scratches to the footboard and there is evidence of adhesive build-up to the joints in the corners. Stretchers and supports - later added pine slats, each side is heavily rubbed and has edge knocks and has later metal brackets added. Heavily scratched and rubbed. Headboard - general scattered scratching to the wooden components. On the top section of the headboard there is a shrinkage split running horizontally from one end to the other. Darker polish build-up. The pinecone finials are heavily rubbed and worn. Same for the fluted uprights. On the right hand side there is some adhesive build-up and evidence of repair. General heavier wear to the base and feet commensurate with age. We confirm the item does come apart for transport.
Frank Rosier, an impressive oak, carved and inlaid half-tester bedstead. The head centered by an arch incorporating three cherub heads and inscribed 'Hear, See, and Speak no Evil' on a scrolling banner, the central panels of the head and foot with floral and foliate carved decoration flanked by lozenge inlaid panels, the head with twist supports, and with two carved side rails height 196cm, width 163cm, maximum length 212cm, currently configured to accept approximately a double mattress size.Frank Rosier was a wood carver and cabinet maker, based in the early 20th century in Frant, East Sussex.By decent within the family.
