Powered by a rev-hungry 4941cc S62 V8 engine (rated at 394bhp / 369lbft), the super Saloon was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds and 155mph (limited). Right-hand drive European-specification production amounted to just 2,595 cars.Chassis number ‘BJ10581’ was supplied new by the BMW GB Distribution Centre, being first registered on the 12th January to the BMW Demonstration Fleet as a dealer demonstrator. Supplied to its first private owner in May 2000, the M5 has now had five private owners and has covered a modest under 92,000 miles from new.Residing in the custodianship of the vendor since 2009 and living in a carpeted garage during this time, the BMW has needed for very little, receiving wheel refurbishment and tyres, as well as a couple of oil and filter services across the mere 12,000 miles covered in fifteen years. Supplied with the apt cherished ‘M5’ registration number, the E39 is also accompanied by a history file that contains a collection of previous MOTs and invoices, a current MOT until May next year, V5C Registration Document, and the full book pack in the BMW wallet, including the owner’s handbook and stamped service book that documents eight services. Due to be driven to the sale, not much comes close in terms of real-world driving enjoyment as an E39 M5. For more information, please contact: Paul Cheetham paul.cheetham@handh.co.uk 07538 667452

Registration No: B10 AXA Chassis No: WAPBA33L09FE45044 MOT: July 2025Build Number 44 of a reputed 112 B10 3.3 Saloon models worldwideRare and highly desirable manual gearbox exampleCurrent ownership for eleven years and just five former keepersSupplied with a history file including documented service historyThe Alpina B10 3.2, 3.3, V8 and V8S petrol-engined models were built in saloon and estate body styles based on the E39 from January 1997 to May 2004. The BMW Alpina B10 3.3 produced 276bhp @ 6,200bhp and 335Nm (247 lb ft) of torque @ 4,500rpm. Alpina only made 112 of the B10 3.3 saloon models worldwide, from a total E39 B10 production run of 472, split across six-cylinder and V8s, saloon and touring models. Alpina really threw everything at this model! Unlike the earlier 3.2 version (which used a 528i engine as a base), the 3.3 Alpina took the legendary S52B32 engine from the US-spec E36 M3 and then increased the stroke to up the capacity to 3.3 litres. It was then fitted with lightweight MAHLE pistons with a ported and polished cylinder head, with a new crankshaft with torsional vibration dampers and revised ECU software.Build number 44 of the 112 B10s produced, was manufactured in 1999 and was supplied new to the United Kingdom being first registered on the 1st March that year. Finished in Anthracite Grey paintwork with Montana Grey leather interior upholstery, the Alpina was specified with the rare and highly desirable manual gearbox, as well as electric rear windscreen blind and rear window privacy blinds, 19’ staggered alloys, Angel Eye, and LED lights, as well as having a tracking system. In current ownership since 2013, the Alpina has covered some 18,000 miles in this time and has just five former keepers. Offered with apt ‘B10’ registration number included, its original unused tool kit, glove box torch, medical kit, Schnitzer heated wing mirrors and a stainless steel exhaust, the B10 is rated by the vendor as ‘very good’ in regards to bodywork, paintwork, engine, gearbox, and electrical equipment, and as having ‘excellent’ interior trim. Offered with a history file that includes the original book pack including the stamped service book, as well as historic invoices and MOTs, a no advisory MOT until July next year, and a current V5C document. Lot 68

Registration No: LHO 401 Chassis No: 401/1202 MOT: ExemptOne of just 618 Bristol 401s built and with the distinctive original Bristol registered plate "LHO 401"Previously in the ownership of Derek Cunningham, a flamboyant Hollywood writer, director and actorMatching chassis and engine numbers and a fantastic opportunity to own a BristolOffered from a deceased estate and just requiring its final finishing / debugging"This, indeed, is the car for the connoisseur. It can only be modesty on the part of the Bristol publicity boys which has prevented them from quoting as the 401's slogan 'The Best Car in Britain'" (Motor Sport magazine, January 1953).Introduced in Autumn 1949, the 401 was characterised by its super-smooth, aerodynamic bodywork. Honed in the Bristol Aeroplane Company's wind tunnel and built using Milanese coachbuilder Touring's ‘Superleggera’ technique, it boasted a commendably lithe kerb weight (c.2,700lbs). Equipped with transverse-leaf independent front suspension and hydraulic drum brakes, the newcomer proved a notably fine handler taking Touring Class wins on both the Cannes and Tulip Rallies during 1951. Powered by a 1971cc OHV straight-six engine allied to four-speed manual transmission, the elegant sports saloon promised nigh-on 100mph performance. Only in production for four years (by which time a mere 618 are thought to have been made), the model's exclusive £3,212 13s 4d price tag was a reflection of the aircraft quality materials used in its construction.First registered in Hampshire on the 14th May 1953 and previously featured in the December 1956 issue of Motor Sport magazine with its original and apt Bristol area mark 'LHO 401', this Bristol 401 has resided in and benefitted from its current ownership since 2019. When purchased by the vendor, 'LHO' was in a stripped-down state. The clincher for the vendor buying this particular car in a stripped-down condition - not normally recommended, was he identified from the logbook it was registered close to his birthday. A touch of serendipity in his mind. Stripped-down for previous restoration work in 1979, 'LHO 401' had occupied a space at TT Workshops Ltd for some 15 years, where work was carried out as-and-when. Decades now having passed 85% complete and unfinished, work was to begin in earnest to finally bring 'LHO' back to its former glory. All checked out as 'very good'. In particular, the chassis presented in excellent condition with no visible corrosion or signs of damage. Stripped once more, 'LHO' was presented to Superspray Ltd where it was taken to bare metal (images on file). 'LHO's' original colour had been identified as a Blue/Green hue ('Blue' on the buff logbook), however, it was decided that British Racing Green would be used. Meanwhile, the engine, was overhauled by Rob Walker Engines, Oxfordshire. A set of Cosworth pistons and rings, developed for better combustion in race engines were obtained from Roderick MacPherson, a Bristol Engine specialist, along with a 'fast road' profiled camshaft. The gearbox was taken to another Bristol specialist to be checked over and have an overdrive unit fitted.Previously in the ownership of a Derek Cunningham, a flamboyant writer, director and actor linked to satirical sketch comedy and work in Hollywood, 'LHO 401' is accompanied to the sale by its original logbook, instruction manual, a dossier of correspondence, invoices from the 1970s and 1980s, a copy of Motor Sport magazine featuring 'LHO' and other fascinating history. PLEASE NOTE: The restoration of this lot is essentially complete. The ‘finishing’ it requires is a matter of running-in, de-bugging and minor fettling. For example, the fuel filler flap could do with adjustment likewise the operation of the windscreen wiper motor. Frank McKelvey RUA RHA (1895 -1974) A Donegal Farmyard Oil on canvas, 40 x 50cm (15¾ x 19¾") Signed, also inscribed with title on stretcher versoFrank McKelvey studied at the Belfast School of Art in his hometown, winning the prize for figure drawing in 1912. He exhibited at the RHA for the first time in 1918 and continued to do so annually for the following fifty years, being elected a full member of the academy in 1930. Between 1923 and 1935 McKelvey exhibited regularly at the Glasgow Institute of Fine Art and his first solo show was held at Locksley Hall, Belfast, in 1934 and again in 1936. His first solo show in Dublin was held at the Victor Waddington Galleries in 1937. Along with James Humbert Craig, Frank McKelvey was the leading landscapist of his time in Northern Ireland. He was a master of landscape employing just the right range of compositional elements, provoking a sense of quietude and harmony. The setting for McKelvey’s paintings on the present subject is generally one of two locations : the Maze, County Down where McKelvey settled with his wife in 1924 or it could be the home of his wife’s parents in Bessbrook, County Armagh. Regardless of setting it is clear that the artist, as a city-dweller by birth and upbringing, has great affection for the country and sees this rural context as an idyllic subject for his painting. The farmyard featured regularly in McKelvey’s work for over forty years and during the twenties, the artist composed a number of scenes, within which a woman, often accompanied by a child, would scatter feed to waiting chickens. In the present work, there is a slight variation on this theme, two barefoot children are feeding the hens outside a simple thatched cottage. The elder girl is scattering the feed while the younger child watches on with her hands joined behind her back. The chickens are carefully detailed and there is a range of white, brown and black poultry. Some stand waiting, some stoop and some eat. McKelvey shows himself to be a master of his medium and subject. The painting’s definitive triumph is the play of light over the composition in its entirety. It is impressionistic in style, with the artist's characteristic level of detail. He has a measured, yet apt approach to representing a scene, clearly evident here. The palette is warm, bright, and summery. The sun highlights essential elements of the composition and pools strategically on the ground and bathes the children in golden light. We acknowledge with thanks the writings of Marianne O’Kane Boal, upon which this piece is based.

Registration No: P100BBR Chassis No: WMWRE320X0TK77080 MOT: August 2024 c.350bhp, converted by Brodie Brittain Racing when new• Over £90,000 spent including the car's purchase price • Featured on BBC Top Gear in 2006 • Warranted 6,750 miles from new • Crystal Light Blue with White roof and Recaro leather interior The phrase 'pocket rocket' could well have been coined for 'P100 BBR', an astonishing Mini with no less than 350bhp on tap, which featured on BBC Top Gear in 2006. It was converted when new by renowned go-faster specialists Brodie Brittain Racing (BBR) of David Brodie, highly successful saloon car racer and well connected with Fast Ford performance, with the intention of making it the fastest Cooper S on the planet. According to the vendor, it remains so to this day. Small wonder then that the total cost, including the purchase of the standard car, was in excess of £90,000. The completely reworked engine features: a big valve head; BBR cam; solid tappets; turbocharger in place of the original supercharge; high-flow fuel system; remapped ECU; oil cooler plus high-flow water pump and radiator to keep the temperatures under control; and a big bore exhaust system and stainless steel downpipes to ensure the gases exit with optimum efficiency. So potent an ensemble naturally required related uprates to the running gear and chassis, which included: a limited-slip differential; anti-torque steer suspension; Polybush kit; bigger, ventilated disc brakes, and braided hoses; F1 Goodyear Eagle tyres. This monster of a Mini is equipped with a 'Works' body kit and finished in the strident combination of Crystal Light Blue teamed with a White roof, alloy wheels and mirror casings. The full Recaro interior is trimmed in Dark Blue hide complemented by Mid Blue carpets. The mileage covered to date is under a mere 6,750 warranted miles from new, and the Cooper S comes complete with the suitably apt registration 'P100 BBR' plus its original service record and owners' handbook, and is considered by the vendor to have 'excellent' interior trim, 'very good' bodywork, engine, electrical equipment, and six-speed manual transmission, and 'good' paintwork. Purchasers of BMW Minis have been encouraged to customise them from day one, but this breathtaking example arguably takes the idea to a whole new level! Registration No: OU09 WCT Chassis No: SAJAC43R6AMB33891 MOT: April 2025Desirable and lesser-seen Speed and Black Pack exampleJust 76,000 miles from new and five former keepersPerformance increased from 155mph to 174mph with a 0-60mph time of 4.6 secondsOffered with the original stamped service book with good service historyIntroduced at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, the second-generation Jaguar XK range (codenamed X150) was styled by Ian Callum. Deliberately evoking the E-Type via its oval grille, speeding teardrop glasshouse, and muscular haunches, the newcomer featured bonded/riveted aluminium construction, all-round independent suspension, power steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Powered by either a 4.2-litre V8 or 5.0-litre engine as per the sale car, both in supercharged or non-supercharged form, the standard-fit six-speed automatic transmission could either be left to its own devices or made to swap cogs by the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts. A rival to the Porsche 911 (997) and Mercedes-Benz SL (R230), the Jaguar (X150) XK / XKR remained in production until 2014 by which time a mere 54,000 had been sold (compared to 212,704 Porsche 997s and 169,443 Mercedes-Benz R230s).The Speed and Black Packs added extra performance and styling menace to the already highly competent and pretty XKR. Raising the top speed from 155mph by almost 20mph (to 174mph), the 0-60mph capability is also increased to 4.6 seconds, and a performance exhaust also further releases the thunderous V8 noise. The Speed Pack also includes the addition of a number of unique colour-coded aerodynamic parts including the front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser and a taller rear spoiler – with the Black Pack, providing 20-inch gloss Black ‘Kalimnos’ alloy wheels, along with Black window surrounds and front grilles.Manufactured in 2009, the XKR Speed and Black Pack example offered was supplied new to the United Kingdom, being registered new on the 8th of May that year. Finished in the apt colour combination of Anthracite Black paintwork with complementary Black wheels and Black leather upholstery, the XKR was well-specified from new, with the Speed and Black Packs costing an additional £8,000 on the list price alone, and it is offered now having covered some 77,000 miles from new and has had five former keepers. Supplied with a history file that contains extensive invoices for work and maintenance, previous MOT certificates, a current MOT certificate until April 2025, and a current V5C. The original book pack in the Jaguar wallet is also included, which contains the stamped service book that displays twelve service stamps, the most recent being completed in March at 76,917 miles. Recently benefitting from new rear tyres, new rear wheel bearings, new brake pads, the Jaguar is offered with two sets of keys. A rare opportunity to acquire a desirable and lesser-seen Speed and Black Pack example. For more information, please contact: Paul Cheetham paul.cheetham@handh.co.uk 07538 667452

A George V Silver Caster, by Henry George Murphy, London, 1933, With Falcon Studios Mark in the Art Deco style, tapering cylindrical and on spreading foot, overall engraved with angular ornament, the bayonet-mounted cover with baluster finial; Together With a similar salt-cellar, maker's mark H&Sn, overstriking another, London, 1933the caster 12.5cm high, the salt-cellar 72mm diameter, total weight 7oz 19dwt, 248gr (2)Paul Atterbury and John Benjamin describe the years after 1932 as 'a highly productive period [for Murphy]' and '... [a] period defined by a significant change in style, particularly in the field of silversmithing, with a new emphasis on line engraving and the modernist and geometric forms of Art Deco...' (P. Atterbury and J. Benjamin, Arts and Crafts to Art Deco The Jewellery and Silver of H. G. Murphy, Woodbridge, 2005, p. 30), which is certainly an apt description of the present caster. It has seemingly not been determined who was responsible for the engraving on these type of objects but George Taylor Friend, an accomplished engraver, was certainly known to not only be a friend of Murphy but also to have undertaken engraving work for him. It is interesting to see a very similar example in a photograph of a display of Murphy's silver taken in the 1930s at the Red Rose Guild, Manchester (op. cit, p. 32). A nearly identical, though slightly later, example of the same model was sold at Woolley and Wallis, 30 April 2008, lot 800.Each piece fully marked underneath. The caster further part-maked on cover bezel and stamped underneath with Falcon studio mark. The marks are generally clear. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some bruises to the sides of the salt-cellar.

Registration No: 1543 MG Chassis No: GHN5443374G MOT: October 2024In current ownership since 2004Reconditioned engine from Ivor Seale fitted in 2021 with just 3,000 miles sinceExtensively improved during the vendor's ownershipOffered with apt cherished registration number ‘1543 MG’PLEASE NOTE: The exhaust system fitted was a mild steel one, not a stainless as informed in the printed catalogue.Introduced in 1962, the MGB Roadster enjoyed an eighteen-year production run. With nicely balanced handling and a good turn of speed, it merited the old MG marketing slogan 'Safety Fast'. Based around a monocoque chassis featuring independent coil-sprung front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, its 1798cc 'B' series four-cylinder engine was allied to four-speed manual transmission. Capable of over 100mph (especially if specified with overdrive), the provision of disc/drum brakes and rack and pinion steering greatly aided control. However, the biggest visual change in the car’s history occurred when steel reinforced rubber bumpers replaced the chrome ones and the ride height was raised by one inch. By the time Roadster production ceased in October 1980, a total of 399,070 are said to have been produced.Chassis ‘GHN5443374G’ was manufactured in 1977 and was supplied new to the United Kingdom being road registered on the 1st of November that year. Finished in Flamenco paintwork with a Black leather interior upholstery and a Black hood, the MG was purchased by the vendor from a deceased estate in 2004 as a running car but requiring improvement. Benefitting from significant expenditure during the vendor’s ensuing twenty-year ownership, the work completed has included a bodywork restoration and repainting (with accompanying images), full re-wiring with some sensible upgrades, an interior refresh, a new mild steel exhaust system, and fitment of a reconditioned Ivor Seale engine in 2021 with just 3,000 miles since.A desirable overdrive example, the MG is offered with a tonneau cover which the vendor informs is in good condition, as are the tyres. The vendor rates the condition of the engine, electrical equipment, gearbox, paintwork, and interior trim as ‘very good’ and the bodywork as ‘excellent’. Offered with a history file that contains are large collection of previous invoices and MOT certificates, photographs of the bodywork improvements, and a current V5C document that shows seven former keepers. The recorded mileage (1)39,770 miles (at the time of consignment) is understood to be genuine, and the Roadster is offered with the very apt cherished registration number of ‘1543 MG’. A nicely presented example of the ever popular MGB, that is due to be driven some fifty miles to the sale. For more information, please contact: Paul Cheetham paul.cheetham@handh.co.uk 07538 667452
