Rawlins (Thomas J., fl.1837-1860) View of front of Alton Towers, Staffordshire, point of the brush, watercolour, heightened with white, pencil under-drawing, signed lower right, image 350 x 425 mm (13 3/4 x 16 3/4 in), under glass, minor spotting and surface dirt, framed, [1860]Illustrated:The Illustrated London News, April 21, 1860, p. 372Provenance:Collection of John and Eileen Harris*** The many Gothic Revival alterations and additions to Alton Towers were designed by Augustus Pugin (1812-1852), and carried out from 1837 until the time of his death In 1857. In 1859 the Alton Towers estate was inherited by the 18th Earl of Shrewsbury, who two years earlier had succeeded to the earldom. In celebration of his inheritance, the earl held a procession through Staffordshire in April 1860. Beginning in Uttoxeter, it stretched over a mile with up to 40,000 people in the grounds of Alton Towers at the end. It was presumably this event, which led The Illustrated London News to commission Rawlins to illustrate the Gothic Revival house for them in April 1860.Pugin is principally remembered for his pioneering role in the Gothic Revival style of architecture, and his work culminated in designing the interior of the Palace of Westminster in Westminster, London, and its renowned clock tower, the Elizabeth Tower (formerly St. Stephen's Tower), which houses the bell known as Big Ben.

What are the constructive suggestions I could put forward?’, autograph salutation, subscription and signature with postscript, a few spots, 2 pages on 2 leaves, 4to, the second letter thanking Altham for his most excellent notes (4 typed pages included with the lot), one page, 4to, the final letter saying that Altham may like to have enclosed copy (6-page typescript included with lot) of what he had said at Lord’s in his speech at the MCC annual dinner on the 2nd May, one page, 8vo, together with the aforementioned typed notes from Altham and cyclostyled text of the speech by Montgomery, the latter somewhat spotted, stapled to upper left corner, folioQTY: (5)NOTE:A typed and footnoted transcription of all five items is included with the lot.

Registration No: OPH 63 Frame No: RC16419 MOT: ExemptFitted with an electric startKnown to the Vincent Owner's ClubUsed recently by the current ownerA current V5C on fileThe Vincent Comet was one of four 499cc single models. As well as the sports Comet, Vincent produced a TT racing model, the Comet Special (a TT model with lights) and the standard Vincent Meteor, which shared many of the same cycle parts. The prototype Series A was refined and developed into a production model Series B, but after World War II it was the development of the Series C that represents the ultimate Vincent 500cc single. This 1950 Vincent Comet was purchased by the current vendor in 2013 from a friend of his. The vendor has described the Comet as a good usable machine that has not let him down since it has been in his ownership. It has been fitted with an Alton electric start for ease of starting. Previous work has been carried out, with receipts on file from the VOC spares scheme. Used by the current vendor until recently, it's now too heavy for him and he has decided to let someone else enjoy it. It should be noted that this Comet has non-matching numbers and the upper frame is from a 1950 Series C Rapide. Property of a deceased's estate2009 Ducati 990cc Desmosedici RR 'Team Version'Registration no. YJ58 XBPFrame no. *ZDMD100AA8B001338*Engine no. ZDM990FW4*001467*• Limited edition Grand Prix replica• Number '1338' of only 1,500 made• Only 2,806 miles from newIt is surely every true enthusiast's dream to own a genuine Grand Prix motorcycle, though in reality one achievable by only a tiny handful of the most wealthy and well connected cognoscenti. Until the arrival of the Ducati Desmosedici RR, that is. OK, it did cost around £40,000, but all you needed to do was re-mortgage the house... It helped if you already owned a Ducati 999R superbike, their owners being given priority by the factory when ordering. It could be argued that, being road legal, the Desmosedici RR was not quite the real deal, but that did not stop the 1,500 machines planned selling like the proverbial 'hot cakes'.At the Misano circuit in 2004, Ducati had astonished the motorcycling world by announcing that it intended to offer for public sale a low-volume, road-legal replica of its MotoGP racer. Two years later, in June 2006, Ducati unveiled the production version at the Mugello Grand Prix weekend. The Desmosedici RR was based on the 2006 Ducati GP6, raced that season by works riders Loris Capirossi, Sete Gibernau and, in a season-concluding one-off, Troy Bayliss, who secured his one and only Grand Prix victory in the last race of the 990cc era at Valencia.Ducati cut remarkably few corners in creating its racer-on-the-road Grand Prix replica, which used basically the same 90-degree V4 engine as the GP6. As delivered, the Desmosedici RR came with a catalytic converter, was Euro 3 compliant, and had a maximum of 188bhp on tap, though when the supplied race pipe was fitted this climbed to 200bhp. Number '1338' of the 1,500 made, as recorded on the top-yoke plaque, this example formerly belonged to the current vendor's late sister, who purchased it new in 2009 from Ducati, Leeds. She used the Desmosedici sparingly over the years on special occasions and it was her pride and joy. She became ill in 2018 (which was the last time she rode it) and unfortunately passed away in 2020.Displaying 2,806 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing/photography, the Desmosedici was recently serviced and ridden by Ducati, Alton as part of their post-service testing. It should be noted that there are some minor chips and paint loss in places; accordingly, prospective purchasers should study the images to satisfy themselves with regard to the machine's cosmetic condition. It should be noted that the locks and keys have been replaced as the originals were lost. The machine comes complete with the original manufacturer's authentication certificate/plate (numbered '1338') and all its original books including the owner's manuals, warranty/service book, and various Ducati accessories and apparel brochures. Accompanying documents include a current V5C Registration Certificate and current MoT certificate (expires 07.02.2025). There are two keys present plus the 'code card'.Offered with keyFootnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 13 October starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
Registration No: LO08 XYF Chassis No: ZFA31200000159214 MOT: August 2025Commissioned by Ferrari for their dealer networkNumber 120 of only 200 examples, of which 60 were right-hand driveSupplied with extensive service history including the original book packShowing only 58466 miles from newThe Fiat 500 Ferrari Dealer Edition is a very special and rare example of the incredibly cute and successful 'retro' city car. Originally ordered by Ferrari in 2008, to be used as a stylish courtesy vehicle by their approved service network, only 200 were built, with a numbered plaque fitted to each; of which only 60 were delivered to UK dealers in right-hand drive specification. Not to be confused with the later (and more common) Abarth 695 Tributo, the Dealer Edition was fitted with a 100bhp turbocharged 1.4 Litre four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. All were painted in the iconic Rosso Corsa with the obligatory Scuderia shields adorning the wings, with the inside fitted out with Nero Leather where bucket seats, aluminium sports pedals, automatic climate control and an electric sliding panoramic sunroof could be found for the full 'Maranello' effect. The Dealer Edition proved so popular that most were sold to some of the most important clients of the Italian brand and the little Red Fiats are now very hard to find on the market today.First registered on the 29th July 2008, to Stratstone Ferrari & Maserati of Manchester, 'LO08 XYF' was to be kept by the firm for only one year before being sold out of the business to Park Lane (UK) Ltd of Alton, Hants in 2009. It is apparent that the baby Fiat was serviced by Stratstone during their ownership and not recorded in the service book at the time, however, the first stamp in the book is from Park Lane at 23,571 miles. There are four further stamps on file from Park Lane at 30,604 miles, 33,217 miles, 38,113 miles and 43,490 miles upon sale. For reasons unknown, the latter two service events included two cambelt changes. Acquired by the vendor's brother at the end of 2018, it was used very sparingly and actually moved to Italy with them for some six months. It was during this period that he decided that it was not suitable for the mountain roads and so it was sold within the family to the vendor in 2020 at c.56,500 miles. It was serviced by PMW Ltd at 56,841 miles immediately after acquisition. The vendor, in his own words, isn't ‘a major car enthusiast’ and has only covered approximately 2,000 miles on short trips to the shops with his wife and has now decided that it is time for the car to go to a more appropriate home. It has deteriorated cosmetically somewhat; the vendor pointed out some dents, lacquer peel and the original alloy wheels being in need of refurbishment. However, he describes the mechanical condition as 'very good' and describes it as a 'dependable little car'. Now offered at No Reserve, this could be the most affordable route to legitimate Scuderia shield-wearing exotica out there!
