Time for a tea break – four lots to enjoy with a nice cuppa

Later this week a collection of Shelley ceramics will be offered at Potteries Auctions in Newcastle under Lyme. The large offering on March 14 spans the life of the factory from the Wileman & Co Art Nouveau wares, through the Deco ranges to the post-war tea wares.
Included in the sale is this selection of Shelley Vogue Sunray dinner and tea ware. Many have chips and wear and tear but there is a good variety of cups, plates and accessories carrying an estimate of £1000-2000. View and bid for this collection of Shelley Vogue Sunray here.
2. Eduardo Paolozzi for Wedgwood plates
Also in the Potteries Auctions' March 14 sale is a set of six ‘Kalkulium’ plates designed by artist Eduardo Paolozzi for Wedgwood. Estimated at £500-1000, the 1987 Kalkulium suite design was a limited edition that consisted of 500 sets, each boxed with a numbered certificate.

3. Clarice Cliff tea set
A sale of Clarice Cliff, Art Deco & Design at Woolley & Wallis on March 18 includes more than 660 lots. Among the Clarice Cliff wares is this 'Nasturtium' Bizarre Stamford tea for two set with an estimate of £800-1200. It was owned by collector Pamela Harding. 4. Modernist tea set
This 'Kay Tea set' was found in north London and has been consigned to Dawson’s March 21 sale with a £7,000-10,000 estimate. Designers Bebe Kay and her late husband Stanley worked with silversmith Howard Fenn (b.1953) on the Bauhaus inspired set which comprises a teapot, stand, water pot, milk and sugar pots, strainer, tray, spoons and accompanying rack and 10 tea glasses, all with silver hallmarks for London dated 1998, 1999 and 2001. Mark Hill, dealer and consultant at Dawson’s, said: “This set has a great Modernist look that is as fresh today as the original design movement a century or so ago.”
