The sun is shining so why not take a look at sunshine inspired art and antiques at auction

Here are four lots depicting a sun or sunflowers at upcoming auctions.

Sun plaque

A Sun Fire Office brass fire mark or insurance plaque.

The practice of placing a metal mark on a building to indicate insurance against a fire started in earnest after the Great Fire of London (1666). Each insurance company had its own fire service and distinctive logo. Fire marks are collectable and the Sun Fire office uses a sun depiction in its plaques.

Sun Office plaque

A Sun Fire Office (London 1710-1959) brass fire mark or insurance plaque with stamped policy number 425573 together with another painted brass example marked 1710. Estimated at £30-50 at East Bristol Auctions on April 11.

Scarf

A Tiffany & Co Sunflowers silk print scarf estimated at £60-100 at Chiswick Auctions on April 5-6.

The Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club used an Art Deco sun as their emblem.

Sunbeam medal

This large bronze medal for the Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club 'The Pioneer Run' c.1931 is estimated at £30-50 at Wallis & Wallis on April 4.

Sunflowers

This Sunflowers picture is by artist Nikolay Mamontov (b.1953) and is estimated at £400-600 at Sworders on April 5.
