Valentine’s Day is just round the corner (it’s February 14, in case your memory needs a jog), and you might be on the lookout for something to treat the special someone in your life.
This heart-shaped brooch or pendant, set with a circular cabochon-cut garnet and rose cut diamond with a bow is on offer at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood’s two day sale in Exeter running from February 7-8 with an estimate of £200-300.
Flowers, jewellery and dinner are still classic pursuits, but recently there has been a growing trend towards travelling or even cosying up at home. Here we look at some of the auction treats which might suit a 2023 Valentine.
Suitable for a night in with a bottle of bubbles – or getting some chums together to celebrate Singles Awareness Day – this Edwardian cased set of six silver champagned goblets goes under the hammer at Catherine Southon Auctioneers & Valuers on February 8. The set was made in Sheffield, 1909, by Atkin Brothers. The bowls have gilt interiors and the set is available for £300-500. The condition is listed as fair, with more detail in the catalogue.
What better way to say ‘I love you’ than with a massive emerald? This late 18th or early 19th century emerald and diamond set heart shaped cluster ring is offered at Catherine Southon Auctioneers and Valuers on February 8 with an estimate of £5000-8000.
Bidding starts at £2000 for this Cartier ‘Love’ bangle in 18ct rose gold from Harrods. A screwdriver is required to fasten and unfasten the piece, and this is included along with the original Harrod’s receipt. It is offered in the timed online Hatton Garden Auctions sale which ends on February 6.
