Sheeran’s Suffolk – 12 lots coming up at charity auction organised by Ed Sheeran’s family

The auction has been put together with the help of the singer-songwriter’s parents John and Imogen Sheeran and funds raised will help children and young adults with disabilities and life-limiting illnesses in Suffolk with charity GeeWizz.

The 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction' has been put together with the help of the singer-songwriter’s parents John and Imogen Sheeran (pictured far left and far right) and (pictured centre) Gina Long and Patzi Shepperson of Suffolk charity GeeWizz.

Auction house Lacy Scott & Knight will offer more than 200 lots from music memorabilia to art via thesaleroom.com with online bidding in an auction running until November 8.

Here is a selection of 12 lots on offer. 

1 Ed and the Castle

Ben Mosley painted Ed Sheeran singing at Framlingham Castle in Suffolk (above, top)  earlier this year and it is signed by Sheeran. Mosley is the Official Team GB artist. 2 The Guardian sculpture

A 20 x 14 x 7.5in (50 x 35 x 19cm) (including base) 'Guardian' sculpture by Roger Hardy, offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

The Guardian Sculpture by Roger Hardy has been created from material reclaimed from the River Alde, which passes through Snape and Aldeburgh, Suffolk. This lot also includes a tour of the artists studio. The 20 x 14 x 7.5in (50 x 35 x 19cm) (including base) sculpture was donated by the artist. 3 Loaded Bronze sculpture

This 12 x 22in (30 x 55cm) maquette called 'Loaded Bronze' is by sculptor Laurence Edwards. It is offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

Sculptor Laurence Edwards casts his own work and is fascinated by human anatomy. This piece, called Loaded Bronze Sculpture, is one of an edition of 18. The editioned series are studies for Edwards’s 17ft wide sculpture Carrier. This 12 x 22in (30 x 55cm) maquette was donated by the artist. 4 Pin Mill watercolour

A 22 x 25in (56 x 63cm) watercolour by James Chambury (1927-94) called Pin Mill, offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

This watercolour by James Chambury is called Pin Mill and is offered with a book on the landscape artist ‘James Chambury - Colour Light & Shade: Painting in East Anglia and Beyond’. The 22 x 25in (56 x 63cm) picture and book was donated by the artist’s daughters Louise and Nicola Chambury from their private collection. View and bid for this Pin Mill picture via thesaleroom.com.

5 Maquette of English Suffragette sculpture

A 20in (50cm) high bronze maquette of a sculpture of English suffragette Alice Hawkins by Sean Hedges-Quinn, offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

This bronze maquette of a sculpture depicting English suffragette Alice Hawkins is by Sean Hedges-Quinn. Hawkins went to prison five times for acts committed as part of the Women’s Social and Political Union militant campaign. Hedges-Quinn’s statue was unveiled in Leicester city centre in 2018. 6 Felixstowe Ferry picture

Cris Coe’s painting 'Boats at Felixstowe Ferry, Suffolk', offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

Cris Coe’s painting Boats at Felixstowe Ferry, Suffolk is set at the mouth of the river Deben. The 14 x 26in (35 x 65cm) oil on canvas was donated by the artist. View and bid for Boats at Felixtowe Ferry picture via thesaleroom.com.

7 Random Cube

Jonathan Keep's Random Cube.

Suffolk potter Jonathan Keep uses a studio-based self-built 3D printer that is designed to print in clay. This stoneware clay and glazed piece is called Random Cube and was donated by Keep. View and bid for this Random cube via thesaleroom.com.

8 Sunset picture

Lydia Brooks' 'I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Sunsets with You' picture.

Artist Lydia Brooks is known for her large coastal and abstract paintings. She created I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Sunsets with You earlier this year. It captures the sun setting over the Indian Ocean. The 44.5 x 25in (113 x 63.5cm) acrylic on canvas framed picture was donated by Lydia Brooks Designs. 9 Pomarius Bronze Pear sculpture

Examples of Alice-Andrea Ewing's pear sculptures, offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

A collection of five Suffolk-grown Doyenne du Comice and Conference pears will be created in bronze by artist Alice-Andrea Ewing. Produced using the lost-wax casting method, the work will be donated by Ewing. View and bid for the pear sculpture via thesaleroom.com.

10 Colin Moss self-portrait

A Colin Moss self-portrait, offered at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk Legacy Auction'.

The late Suffolk artist Colin Moss (1914-2005) created this self-portrait Drawing The Artist At 80 in 1994. Also included in this lot is a Colin Moss-inspired walking art tour around Ipswich in 2021 with curator Emma Roodhouse, date to be agreed. 11 Ball-Back chair

An example of one of examples of Otis Luxton's handmade chairs.

Early examples of ball-back chairs in East Anglia date from the 18th century. This chair is made by Otis Luxton who handmakes contemporary versions of various Suffolk chairs. The chair can be in oak or elm and will be donated by Luxton. View and bid for this chair lot via thesaleroom.com.
