Five timed online auctions to check out this festive season
20 December 2022
Family commitments and food comas don’t mean you have to miss out on auctions over the festive season.
Killens in Somerset offers a timed online auction of cameras and scientific equipment which runs from December 20-29. Among the offerings with an estimate of £200-300 is this Nikon S2 35mm Rangefinder camera with a Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm Sonnar lens.
Timed online auctions allow buyers to place bids at any time before a sale ends and then check back when it closes to see what the result is. There is no live bidding, which means you do not have to worry about bids being driven up in the heat of the moment.
As with any auction, it is always a good idea to check shipping policies, condition reports and auction fees before putting your money on an object. Unless otherwise indicated, those mentioned below are live at the time of publishing.
This wooden apple-shaped tea caddy is part of a sale by John Nicholson’s, which ends January 1. So place your bids now and enjoy Christmas and New Year’s in the knowledge they’re working away for you in the background. Measuring 10cm high, the caddy has an estimate of £110-130.
From the heart of the Potteries comes an auction of British pottery and glass, which runs until January 2. The Stoke-on-Trent saleroom offers this Masons blue Mandalay patterned teapot, 15cm high, which has an estimate of £15-30.
William George offers a range of jewellery in its timed sale which runs until December 29. Bidding starts at £550 for this 18ct gold diamond ring which features stone set shoulders at Manchester sale.
East Bristol auctions offers a couple of entertainment memorabilia auctions over the festive season, included one devoted to Star Wars. Estimated at £200-300 is this Carrie Fisher autographed photograph. Bidding ends on December 30.
