May the Fourth be with you: Highlights from two Star Wars Day sales
28 April 2022
On Star Wars Day now just a week away (May 4 – as in ‘May the Fourth be with you), memorabilia collectors will be spoiled for choice with two major thematic sales.
One of two major Star Wars auctions set for May 4 – Star Wars Day – is the sale of the estate of Jeremy Bulloch. This autographed photograph of him is among the lots offered at East Bristol Auctions where it is expected to fetch £80-120. View the catalogue entry here.
C & T Auctioneers and Valuers of Kent holds The Star Wars, TV & Film Related Toys & Collectibles, which features nearly 350 lots with prices to suit all wallets. Although there are a handful of non-Lucasfilm lots, the majority come from the original Star Wars trilogy.
Top estimated is this Palitoy Chewbacca Original Carded 3 ¾ in figure, mint, with a mint factory sealed bubble. It is offered with a collector’s case with an estimate of £1500-2000. View the catalogue entry here.
This trio comes from a large set of cardboard cutouts from 1997. Issued to cinemas by 20th Century Fox, the characters include Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Jabba the Hutt, an Ewok and the Death Star II. The collection comes in mint unassembled condition in three boxes and has an estimate of £200-300. View the catalogue entry here.
A coveted piece of nostalgia for some, this Kenner vintage Millennium Falcon has an estimate of £200-300. It comes complete with a Jedi training ball, quad laser cannon, and cockpit canopy. It is in excellent original condition with the decals applied and is in the original The Empire Strikes Back box. View the catalogue entry here.
Also going under the hammer is the estate of British actor, Jeremy Bulloch, known for his physical portrayal of Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The first part of his collection comes up at East Bristol Auctions on May 4. It comprises more than 600 pieces of memorabilia, with more to follow.
A life size statue of Boba Fett is expected to be the top lot of the sale, with the estimate set at £8000-12,000. Bulloch’s body was cast for the statue, which was hand crafted and released in 1996 by Rubie’s Costume Company to commemorate Return of the Jedi. View the catalogue entry here.
A little more unusual is Bulloch’s 2001 Fernandes limited edition Boba Fett themed electric guitar. The six string has a built in amplifier, humbucker pickup, volume knob and a picture of Boba Fett’s helmet. It previously hung around the neck of the statue (above). It is offered in good working condition with an estimate of £500-800. View the catalogue entry here.
Estimated at £250-400 is this vintage patch made for crew members of The Empire Strikes back. The unused patch was made for cast and crew members and was a model for those later created for the Star Wars Fan Club. View the catalogue entry here.
