Dress to impress

Two Cecil Beaton portrait photos including Paulette Goddard – estimate £100-150 at Flints on January 28.

Plenty of people have greatly missed the opportunity to go out wearing their most fashionable clothes.

A lot guided at £100-150 includes two portrait photos by Cecil Beaton (1904-80) which give a reminder of high fashion. The gelatin silver prints show Paulette Goddard from the set of An Ideal Husband, 1947, 19.5 x 23.5cm, and a portrait of a young woman, c.1950-60, 24.5 x 26cm.

Aye of the needle

Tattoo Variation 1 by Sandi Fellman – estimate £80-120 at Flints on January 28.

You could always get a tattoo when lockdown ends as a mark of your freedom. Something that has been special during these tough months – the Netflix logo, for example.

If your only exercise expedition has been a quick cycle ride in your very local area of the Olympic Park, say, then you will almost certainly be chomping at the bit to go for a country walk.

For now, you could just stare at this gelatin silver print c.1971, estimated at £120-180. The original photo for The Pilgrim’s Way - Path to the Top of the Hill by Edwin Smith (1912-71) dates from c.1960.
